So, yeah, licensing stuff. Will be taken off Steam and Xbox Live. Grab it because it's discounted.
Hopefully, Quantum Break is next.

@freedomfreak:
Well, I highly recommend that people do get this while it lasts. Alan Wake is one the best, and most underrated games out there! Of all the horror games I've played, this would be top 5, easy! Great story, fast paced action, awesome effects(even for a last gen). Alan Wake is just so polished! Whatever price it's on, it's worth every fucking penny!! BUY! IT!
It's a good thing I got all the Alan Wake games stuff when I pre-order Quantum Break last year so I'm good with everything that came with QB and Alan Wake is mines forever!
Also Music License is a bitch to keep paying for so I don't blame MS/Remedy for not resigning the Contract.
Edit: It should be noted that I love just about all the Alan Wake music in the game when I beat a chapter but my favorite one is: Poets of the fall war! such a fitting song for the final battle with the Darkness on the next final chapter.
"One of Alan Wake's best features was its licensed soundtrack, and now the tunes developer Remedy Entertainment carefully curated are causing a bit of grief. Remedy's rights to The Black Angels' "Young Men Dead" and "Up Jumped The Devil" from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (among others) are expiring, and with them, so must Alan Wake itself. Remedy tweeted that because of this, the game will be delisted from Steam and other digital storefronts after May 15th. "
Hah, maybe make your own music next time...
If I already have it on steam... do I need to install it and leave it there forever? Or can we still install after its removed?
Na, if you bought it you keep it.
This isn't to say they couldn't RELIST it if they could add new music.
This has happened with a few games. e.g. Kingpin

That is a great idea. Put in some Call Me Maybe.
God i remember when xbox fans praised that game like the second coming cause it was exclusive.
Turns out it was a boring piece of shit.
This is stupid. A publisher can easily substitute with different music. Take a little effort, but it wouldn't be too hard. Happens all the time with DVD box sets and such. I know it's not as simple with video games, but come on. This is just a company being cheap.
Hmmm it's shame its come to this... although the more I think back to it, the less I actually think I enjoyed the game. The first time I played it, I thought I liked it. But when I played it again when it came to XB1 BC, I really found it to be a chore. Cool theme but.

lol yeah. Sure it happens with a lot of mediocre/bad exclusives, but the Alan Wake dick riding was next level. Dat jacket tho.
Then again, cows hyped shit like Lair and Haze, tried to pretend LBP was a better platformer than the SMG games, and to this day they still claim MGS4 is a masterpiece.
Fanboys.

lol wtf?
Who says they wont re-list?
The love for Alan Wake (on steam anyway) has always been strong so you dont know if it will be back or not?
All publishers have done this, even Sony..........were they also being cheap?
I guess this is the last chance to finally play this mediocre ass game with 4 or so enemies, a one note lighting mechanic that eve includes glorified bird watching, a reliance on tedious side-tracking of locked doors, serious pacing issues, an engagement camera that not only disorientates but also kills the tension and sluggish controls while you still can.
So underrated.
They could re-release a version where they've replaced the licensed songs with royalty orbison free ones.
It would completely ruin the game, but it would also make the game worse.

Well from what I recall, David Bowie was a fan of video games, so who knows if he let Lake use his music at a reduced cost or something. Now that he's passed on, the rights have legally moved on to someone else who may want more money or something.
It's one of those things where it's like "seemed like a good idea at the time".
It was a decent game for sure, definitely worth the 20 bucks I paid for it. The story turned out to be kinda meh. The gameplay was fun, though.
