Gears 5 hype thread for Sony fanboys! Update: Gears 5 is a 7/10!

This is the only reason I regret ditching Xbox after 12 years. I will miss my Gears and 5 looks awesome!!!

Yeah I'm looking forward to it, the campaigns have always been fun. Coming out on PC, pretty happy with this new policy MS has, with coming out on console and PC moving forward.

I'm pretty keen, was thinking about doing another playthrough of them for when this arrives.

@tumekenz: depending on your PC specs you can play it for a dollar on games pass

PC is the best place to play it obviously the S will be a struggle.

Gears 5 is already in hype overload and is shaping up to be one of the best campaigns since the 1st Gears of War and this is gonna be my first Gears game and already played the Beta. I'll go with a 9/10!

Can see it scoring in the high 80's meta think 4 was a 84. The campaign vid got me more interested than I was.

@robert_sparkes: Meh, 4k 60fps on X will be better than most pcs can handle, plus there'll be parity amongst mp players, and virtually zero cheaters.

Plus better than most base X1's and S models. Silly argument. The rest is probably right, though not provable at this point.

For now I'm seeing a lot of praise on twitter. Hope it ends up being a good surprise.

@getyeryayasout: I think is closer to Metro Exodus. Saw a video of a guy blowing an ice lake with a grenade and drowning the enemies on top of it, even before the combat started. It would be cool to have environmental interactions. Gears of the Wild lite maybe?

BTW Ninja is streaming the campaign now. I won't watch to avoid any spoilers.

Xbox youtube Channel has footage of Act 2. Taking over Swarm is a cool concept I hope becomes a norm later in the game.

Yup. Was just watching Ninja playing it a while ago. Actually looks pretty sweet. The standard edition (not interested in the Ultimate Edition stuff) is also crazy cheap in my neck of the woods.

Suddenly looks very tempting. Still gonna wait for reviews, though.

Pretty damn awesome to see Batista in Gears 5. I’m not going to watch any streams though as I don’t want to spoil any of the campaign.

Never thought I see Drax the Destroyer in a Gears game and a MCU bonus character to add will make this game even more popular cause we have lots of MCU fans to boost.

@davillain-: Yeah I get it, this is the only footage I'm looking at until the game is released and I renew my gamepass. They finally made Jack useful he was such wasted potential with how he can cloak and sneak around while everyone is combat and did notthing. Now Jack will bring guns to you and attack enemies.

Dave Bautista definitely blends in well into the Gears Of War universe with his hulking build.

I doubt that campaign will be native 4K/60 on Xbox One X. Dynamic for sure.

It's getting the scores I expected. Low 80s meta. I have game pass ultimate through January thanks to that $2 upgrade so I'll be playing it tomorrow.

8.8 on IGN, 8.3 on MC. Looking good. 7 on GS is kind of expected.

Updated the OP and 7 isn't a bad score to say the least but look at it like this. Gears 5 did a hell lot better then both Sea of Thieves & Crackdown 3 combine.

I was going for the number 8 but the dice didn't roll in my favors this time around :(

But still, I'll play it through Game Pass so I won't have to pay full price to say the least :)

Totally expect this outcome from those scores despite me went a little higher then it appears.

Right. Those dudes at ResetEra are freaking out over an 85 meta, which is the score people who weren't total Bots were expecting the game to fall around. That's still a really good score.

And Gears 5 is doing alot better then both Sea of Thieves & Crackdown 3 combine. I'd take this game over those two any day. MS should be proud of this achievement, not like anyone expects a 10/10 lol.

I'd have expected at least an 8/10.

And like a fish on dry land, it flopped. Gears is trash and it's a much deserved score for a 2 dollar game.

For some reason, Gears 5 review has now revert back to "Review in Progress" but they clearly gave it away cause the final results was already post and don't know why GS feel the need to do so.

I have heard positive things from people with review codes on YouTube but you really have to play it yourself to judge. I'll definitely gamepass it.

Oh well. A 7 is still a good score for me and other places gave it higher reviews. From everything that I’ve seen, heard, and tried of the game myself I’m sure that I’ll thoroughly enjoy the game myself. I’ll happily plunk down $113 Canadian for the physical version of the Ultimate Edition this Friday.
