gaming sucks now

All everyone focuses on is super small indie games or cinemastic big blockbuster games, the aa game is basically dead lol alot of great companies went outta business last gen, midway,acclaim just to name a few.

AA games were great, because they can take more risk than blockbuster games and the production isnt too small like some super small indie game.

Everyone obsessing with lame cinematic blockbuster games destroyed the industry and so did multiplatform development

um did you see black myth wukong yesterday? the first gameplay that looked next gen.

that was a indie company not a AAA huge company like ea or naughty dog or bungie. its getting so much love from people.

besides those AA games get more love than big block buster games.

look at fortnite or call of duty or pokemon or animal crossing or destiny 2 or gta5 etc.

its the casual games get all the love. i know a few people that played gta to death had no idea what sonys first party games were.

compared to sony first party block buster hits sales.

I’m very much enjoying gaming myself still. I can’t say that I really miss Midway or Acclaim either. 🤷‍♂️

THQ nordic is one of the only saviors now, too bad not many AA publishers anymore, aa games bring more diversity to the industry.

@filthyn00b: I don’t know, maybe not but honestly I just can’t think of that much from them that I really cared for all that much. Different tastes probably. I was always more into the stuff from Capcom, Square, Enix, Konami, and Nintendo back then. Stuff from Acclaim just never really piqued my interest at all.

A bit too many remasters/remakes for my taste.

And the AAA industry is completely uninterested in making a 60 dollar product and making a profit, all they want is recurrant spending and gambling mechanics. That sucks.

But still plenty of good games out there. Put your money where the quality is.

Iron Harvest, Serious Sam 4, Mafia remake; all great upcoming games, and not full budget AAA blockbusters

Mainstream games suck. then, now, forever.

Not sure what you are going on about. Just recently I have enjoyed Remnant From The Ashes and A Plague Tale: Innocence, which are both AA games. Games like Control, Ori, Darksiders, Shadow Warrior, etc. are also AA.

@ghosts4ever: DOOM is AAA, but one of the exceptions: no gambling mechanics and the season pass is actually worth the money.

Arkane also making worthwhile AAA games: Dishonored, Prey, Deathloop.

The rest of the AAA industry can burn in damnation.

Arkane and id are only developers who are AAA and still make old school style games. and both are under bethesda a company everyone hate.

@filthyn00b: Yeah I kind of know what they published but those games just weren’t/aren’t my thing. I’m not a big sports game fan. Enjoy the odd hockey game now and then but most of the games that those companies published were things that just didn’t interest me.

@filthyn00b: The best stuff these days are the passion projects that have been worked on for years and years by people making the kind of stuff THEY actually want to play....as opposed to all these big companies that are pretty much just in it for the $$$.

Sadly, this doesn't exactly 'transfer' across all genres. Like with one of my favs...(sp) tactical shooters...genre is pretty much completely dead now.

Yet you posted videos of Offroad Thunder, Hydro Thunder, and San Fransisco Rush. You are a clown.

san fransisco rush had body damage, and if you ran into something going too fast your car would explode, that game struck a perfect balance between semi realism and arcade gameplay, which games fail to do right these days.

motorstorm struck a perfect balance between realism/arcade gameplay like san fransisco rush tho, onrush does not with it's stupid front/backflips off any ramp in the game.

like mario kart and crusin blast and onrush you can do flips off any ramp and do like 360 spins man that just makes all those franchises way too arcadey/cheesy feeling now.

4x4 evolution and midtown madness, motocross madness,atv offroad fury=the original open world driving games.

they need to get rid of the stupid cheesy 360 spins and flips out of mario kart and crusin and onrush it just ruins those games.

My issue with gaming now is that most of the games have lost that fun factor.....and devs take less risks and play it safe. In the past we had all sorts of variety and awesome games. I think with hardware getting better developers expect more realism...it's a natural progression...games wanting to be like movies, etc.
