GameSpot: Sony has more new IP's than either of its competitors

This sure fits SW, analysis made by GameSpot regarding this gens games and new IP's details that Sony produces more games than either of its competitors.

Whether you're talking quantity of titles or percentage of total output, Sony releases more original IP than Microsoft or Nintendo. The company has released 25 PS3 games based on original IP, or nearly 35 percent of its PS3 output this generation. Microsoft was a solid second for new IP with 17 titles (30 percent of its output), while the Wii trailed far behind with just nine original games for the Wii (18 percent of the Nintendo-published catalog).

In four of the PS3's seven years on the market, Sony has produced the most new IP (or tied for most new IP) of the big three console makers. In 2010, Sony launched a whopping 11 original IP into the marketplace. The Wii and Xbox 360 have never come close to matching that output, each having just a single year (2007) where they even published that many games, new or old. Nintendo has never launched more than three new IP for the Wii in a given year, while Microsoft topped out at five original games for the Xbox 360 in 2010 (four of which were Kinect titles).

Sony is apparently going to keep this trend going, as 2013 (which was not included in our assessment) is expected to see the launches of The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, and if it doesn't make it into 2012, Tokyo Jungle. Meanwhile, Nintendo and Microsoft have provided virtually no visibility into original games they're publishing for their systems next year.

GameSpot also notes that Sony is going to increase what their doing and produce even more new IP's in the near future escpially with 2013 having games like Last of Us and Beyond, sony promises more games for its consumers.

Also according to Gamespot Microsoft spawns the most sequels and spin-off's "AKA Milking" while Nintendo offers the least amount of new IP's this generation

Because I know that Nintendo had a lot more new IPs. But a lot of them were Japan Only or on the DS, DSiware, or Wiiware.

Being in last place really spurned Sony to push their gaming division to pick up the slack, and gaming won. Quite a few good games in the bunch, some duds, but my favorites were definitly M.A.G. and InFamous :)

This is the truth. Lems will have to face it.

The PS3 is the best console in this generation, it's because of the decent amount of games it has to offer. The evidence is apparent in this thread.

Free online is a huge plus for the PS3 as well, and PSN is as good as Xbox Live, yet Sony didn't throw ads at your faces. Just a pure win.

If there is one thing to be known about the lems is that they cant face the facts, they do not visit a thread with too many information in it, its more than their minds capacity :P

It's pretty obvious Sony has the most. Having the most doesn't really mean much though, a lot of their titles imo are just decent. Naughty Dog is Sony's best studio and their only top tier dev.Haziqonfire
