Games That Don't Deserve Their Score

They're out there.  Every time you look at the score you say, "How could Gamespot score that game like they did?"  For me, I think Red Steel was underrated.  The shooting portions were pretty good, despite the awful turning.  It deserved a low A, 7 to 7.2.  Zelda: TP deserved at least a 9.2.  There are more games out there that change even littler from sequel to sequel and still get pretty high scores.  Halo 2 is a prime example.  Not much is different from Halo 1.  That deserved a rather low AAA.  Shadow of the Colossuss deserved AAA.  That game was simply amazing and extremely fun.  Every single battle was a challenge and it looked great to boot.  Grand Theft Auto: Double Pack (the only GTA game I've played) deserved a lower score, but not by much.  The driving and targeting weren't the best.  Metroid Prime and Resident Evil 4 deserved 10s.  Those are some of the best examples of what videogames can be, and both were simply amazing.

But what do you guys think?

You mentioned Halo 2, why? It got a 9.4 and thats because it deserved it.

Katamari Damacy was an incrdibly fun game, I guess it could have been higher.

I hated Red Steel. The camera would mess up, spin around, and I'd end up being killed.

Zelda deserved low AAA IMO (the story could have been better).

Despite a rather short campaign and a disappointing storyline, Halo 2 is an exceptional shooter that frequently delivers thrilling, memorable, and unique moments in its online, co-op, and single-player modes.

The Good:Some of the best first-person shooter gameplay in the business.; outstanding multiplayer features--tons of fun modes and customization options.; incredible audio--music and sound effects both major highlights.; impressive artificial intelligence.; co-op mode tons of fun..

It's good, but I didn't think it was THAT good.  It didn't change very much from Halo 1.  I said it still deserved AAA, but I would have given it probably a 9.1.

I was shocked the first time I saw the score for Mario Kart 64 just because I loved that game so much. It is funny that Mario Kart 64 scored a 6.4 though.

how do you mess up turning in red steel. i have add, and because of it, am very fidgety, and it was never a problem for me.

I thought it was kind of sluggish.

Prime got 9.7 and Echoes got 9.1.

Here's the games i think were rated wrong along with what i think they should've gotten:

Overrated:
THPS3 - 9.2 (it was good, but no 10)
Halo 2 - 8.8
LoZ: WW - 8.9
PD0 - 8.6

Underrated:
LoZ: TP - 9.6 (hell, just swap this score with WW's and i'd be happy)
LoZ: MM - 9.2
Mario Kart 64 - 8.7
Killzone - 7.8 (sadly, the hype killed this game)
BFMEII: The Rise of the Witch-King - 8.5
Oblivion (PC) - 9.6 (how this scored below the 360 version, idk, as GS even wrote an entire article detailing how the pc version had better textures, etc.)

...and Halo 2

KOTOR was underrated, its simply the best game I've ever played, and that includes both Half Life's, Deus Ex, both Halo's, Zelda: OoT and a ton of other "best of all time" candidates.pundog

I would say somewhere between 9.3 and 9.5
