In Phil Spencer's blog about the Activision/Blizzard acquisition he wrote this Link to Blog

Not bad growth but not the 30 million that was rumoured a few months ago

We also announced today that Game Pass now has more than 25 million subscribers. As always, we look forward to continuing to add more value and more great games to Game Pass.

And now it’s only gonna rapidly grow with all the big games coming to GamePass. Even if Sony does finally make a GamePass, it’s has no games lol

I was about to say, you can keep it open as I was almost getting ready to lock yours but hey, if you two can work it out, then that's fine by me. But the decision was already made so carry on.

Nice.. Growth has slowed but that's expected..

it's amazing that they're already at 25 million before the majority of Xbox Games Studios and Bethesda titles have been released.. so far all we've gotten in Forza/Halo and that was only within the last couple months..

Now with Activision added to the mix, things are going to get very interesting..

@mesome713: companies usually count all subscribers the ones that are active and the ones that are not active to boost their numbers to look good, is MS deleting all accounts that are not active or how do they do it do they count only paying customers if you know that please share a link

Pretty slow growth IMO ( since Jan. 2021 and 18 mil. back then) . Also, when you include 60+ mil. Xbox consoles, Android platforms, PC, Apple....yeah, slow growth

I'm remembering last year that Xbox fans claimed that 30 mil. subs. were fact and true. Need to find those posts now.

Good Job MS. Did well considering most of their games came out toward the end of last year. So this is pretty good growth.

25 million subscribers x $15 monthly GamePass fee = $375,000,000 USD

Not even enough to cover the development costs of Halo Infinite. How is Microsoft going to sustain its developers and profit when the time, money, resources and marketing campaigns are going to be so huge for big games like Elder Scrolls, Call of Duty, Doom, etc.

Not going after game sales and only focusing on subscription numbers is gonna be a bad move in the long run

That's the given "average" price, I actually got it from August 2021 until May 2022 for $1, lol. I already had Games With Gold and they had a GP deal running so it just added on to my existing GwG subscription.

Halo Infinite topped December NPD alongside Call of Duty: Vanguard link.. games sales are still high despite being included in Game Pass..

it's literally a win/win..

The cost of development for Halo Infinite is over a 10 year period. If you think that Halo Infinite cost is $375 million then you are not using your noggin.

Here's something I thought about with MS's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, I mainly thought of COD factor but curious what potential new subscribers could come if they add World of Warcraft access into Game Pass plans (and/or merge it), could this maybe factor into a significant bump for Game Pass subscriptions?

keep moving that goal post..

the narrative is "Game Pass kills game sales!!1!".. and continually, Game Pass titles launch into the top selling charts time and time again..

this isn't up for debate anymore.. the fake narrative is fake..

It's a good but not great number they are trying to appeal to the casual crowd with cod on gamepass which makes sense. Very interesting to see what that number looks like when cod hits the service.

Really? GamePass you pay a monthly price to access games you can download to your PC or Xbox to play. Depending on the tier you can stream to PC, Xbox, IOS and Android. PS Now, you pay a monthly price to access games via streaming with some games downloadable to your PS5 or PS4. And you are saying they aren't alike?🤔

If PS Now was competitive to GamePass, there wouldn't be rumors of a new Sony subscription service. PS Now is only streaming there's no day one brand new games that come to it.

They are alike, but Sony's product is inferior to the point that people might argue otherwise.

To those fanboys doing math, you forgot one thing.....

25 million subscribers X $15 month is 375 million..... X 12 months is 4.5 billion.

I'm sure they will be fine lol.

The real question is, why do you even care? It's not your money lol. It's not hurting you in anyway..... That is, unless it makes you feel insecure about your choice in consoles....

Most gamers benefit from this, anyways.... Unless you're a Sony, or Nintendo fanboy.

Sigh.
