Game Informer: Why Scott Pilgrim Is Still One Of The Best 2D Brawlers

I found this to be an interesting article because I never played the game, so I wanted to know what people thought about it. I plan on preordering a physical copy from Limited Run Games in a couple days. So the main points I got from the article are:

• Game came out 10 years ago and was delisted. This may have contributed to its legacy.
• Lots of video games references, which I think is cool.
• Game has excellent progression, which makes it stand out.
• Can do four player co-op.
• Is a fun brawler.
• Excellent art style.

I think I'm sold on getting the rerelease when it comes out! How about you, SW? Did you play Scott Pilgrim back in the day? Did you enjoy it? And will you be picking up the remaster?

I would agree, they need to make note of its design and style. Been a while, did it not have a grindy RPG element?

Thought of this game recently when I saw River City Girls on Game Pass and thought it looked like a Japanese Scott Pilgrim, was about to play it with a friend online when we discovered there is no online co-op for the game (like in this day, what?).

Anyhow, if we are digging through Xbox 360 catalog for good beat em ups, I wanna give a nod to Guardian Heroes that originally release on the Saturn and was glad to see got new life on the Xbox 360.

Also, the Dishwasher games too, like those really need to get put on the Xbox BC catalog, what gives?

I'm looking for a good couch coop brawler game to play and I love the SNES style of this game's graphics and music.

But was I mistaken or something, wasn't this announced for PC aswell?

Pc version seems to have disappeared though. It's not launching tomorrow.

Ok, but the PC version is not launching on the 14th along with PS4, Switch, Xbox and Stadia versions.

And they haven't even said when it'll be launching on PC instead. It's sad really :(

I'd rather have dlc for Streets 4.

The game was fun with a great look and music, but best brawler ever? Can't say I agree. Glad to see it back though, and it's a great reminder why an all digital (or streaming, sorry I just puked in my mouth some) is a horrible future.

Nah, that's clickbait. It's a great fun time, based on an excellent comic/movie, but it aint't the best thing ever.

Really good game that I’m glad to see back and I’ll definitely buy it again for the current consoles but there’s a number of other 2D brawlers I’d rank above it myself.

@i_p_daily: No. I’m not really all that big of a Streets of Rage fan myself so not really in a big rush to get it right now. It might be something I get later on if the price is right.

I understand that the best beat'em up series is not for everyone.

In my experience, this kind of beat 'em ups was the most fun to play with friends in an arcade. Playing alone at home isn't that fun. On the contrary, shoot'em ups are suitable for solo play.

No wonder I never played it or even knew it was a beat 'em up... It's a Uplay exclusive. I never open the dang thing. Way to limit your sales, Ubisoft.

I'm sure when I ever get to hell the only forms of gaming there will be game streaming and mobile gaming.

I never play Scott Pilgrim game, but I did watch the movie like years ago.

I'm with Archangel, I'm not all that interest in Streets of Rage and I'll consider buying it down the road on a sale.

Really enjoyed Scott Pilgrim. As long as it controls well I'll have fun with it. Double Dragons I liked, Streets of Rage 4 didn't like that one much.

Oh and never knew there was a movie of Scott Pilgram.

While both the comics & video game became popular, it got itself a movie back in 2010 and sadly, it flop due to the high budget cost $60 million and only made back $43 million and its all because of its poor marketing why the film flop. Not to mention Michael Cera lacked the swagger to pull of Scott Pilgrim! I could say more to this at the lounge if you wish, but I thought it was okayish, just forgettable.

@davillain-: What? Micheal Cera lacked "swagger"...Ummmm yeah he might but that role didn't really call for swagger. He nailed that role, hell the entire movie from start to finish was fantastic. Never realized it was a flop, I don't know anybody personally who doesn't love that movie.
