PC get a new sleeper hit. It's a city building strategy in a steampunk universe with elements of survival resource management genre and with a solid singleplayer campaign. From the creator of This War of Mine. Artstyle looks very good.

That studio screwed me over with their lack of controller support for their PC version of Anamoly 2 despite having it for the first game. So, I will pass again on their game.

In other words, you didn't do the proper research before you bought the game and are blaming the developer because you don't want to take responsibility. Nice.

Battletech appears to be another AAA hit, it is currently at 85 on Metacritic.

Have you played it? Or are you just going on it not being a generic AAA cinematic experience with set piece shooting, walking, climbing and cut scene sections?

Its always a good idea to know what you are talking about because if you did you would have known that the developer promised to patch controller support into the game but later abandoned the idea a year later.

Pc gamers pretending this will remain exclusive and that they have any exclusives worth caring about about.

It would be funny if it wasn't so genuinely sad.

I actually wish this made it to consoles eventually. These niche games require as much support as they can get. We have enough of third person action games with microtransactions. PC still remains a small safe heaven for niche genres like this, or else we would be stuck with Kardashians of video games.

@ivangrozny: gamers outside of these forums don't really care about exclusives though.

On topic this looks decent, I liked this war of mine it was brutally grim.

@ivangrozny: Would have got a better response if you put RIP PS4 as the cows are way more rabid, probably would have been 10 pages by now lol.

As for the game in question, well i didn't watch the vid so that should tell you all you need to know.

Yay! I was keeping an eye on this one. Didn't expect it to do this well, though.

I bet most people here hadn't even heard of it. I'm currently keeping an eye on:

  • Vampyr
  • Granblue Fantasy Project - Platinum Games
  • Ghost of the Precursors
  • The Good Life
  • Blackwake
  • Universim
  • RE:Legends
  • Wargroove
  • Wild

Does anyone have other games that may fly under the radar that could be very good?

Hmm actually now that I think of it, those genres tend to be making you think more and are not as pew pew as most console games. So they do share an aspect that a person maybe doesn't enjoy. Not everybody wants to think while playing games anyway, just like my mother does not want to watch anything intellectual on TV to relax. I bet you don't like TBS games then. I was going to put them on the list but of course consoles tend to have lots of TBS too. Fire Emblem isn't even officially on PC I think. But TBS would fit the same PC vibe imo.

Ah Below, yes! The other two were new to me :) I'm very interested in both.

  • Scorn
  • Ready or Not

The last one is a tactical SWAT FPS that I am hyped for.

Yeah I'm also keeping an eye on most of those games :P

Ready or Not looks very good.

It's like whenever there is a genre that the AAA space abandons, indie or mid tier developers step up and try their shot.

Some others I would list are

  • Phoenix Point
  • Rune/Rune: Ragnarok
  • Ion Maiden
  • Amid Evil
  • GTFO
  • Witchfire
  • Hell Let Loose
  • Insomnia: The Ark
  • Phantom Brigade
  • Disco Elysium
  • Angel's Fall First

Phoenix Point is being made by the creator of XCOM himself and former Crytek Black Sea devs its being made in the same TBS style as the modern XCOM games. The game already looks very good in its pre alpha state most people would probably think its an expansion/spinoff to XCOM 2 if they didn't know better. Phantom Brigade is another upcoming TBS Mech game just like Battletech and it has highly destructible environments that can even kill/damage enemies.

GTFO is a new coop shooter from the co founder of Overkill and the lead designer of the PayDay series. It appears to be a mix of PayDay and Left 4 Dead. I love both those games so I will definitely be getting GTFO. I already plan on getting Vermintide 2 in the next summer sale.

Hell Let Loose is a WW2 MP shooter that looks promising. It was successfully funded on kickstarter and looks graphically amazing. The devs plan on having a 100 player count, dismemberment system, build barricades/traps and somewhat destructible environments. The devs say they're influenced by Red Orchestra 2, Project Reality and Company Of Heroes.

Ion Maiden is basically female Duke Nukem and is even made on the same engine as Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior. The game is already in early access and has received an overall overwhelmingly positive reception.

Witchfire is an old school shooter like Painkiller being made by former People Can Fly devs.

Amid Evil is another old school shooter that is a throwback to medieval FPS such as Heretic and Hexen.

Rune/Rune: Ragnarok is a sequel/reboot to the original Rune game back in 2001. Will also have PvE and PVP content inside its open world with a large player count of about 50v50 I believe.

Angel's Fall First is the closest we're gonna get to a new Battlefield 2142

Disco Elysium is a detective CRPG

Insomnia: The Ark looks like a neat dieselpunk RPG that takes some inspiration from STALKER and the first two fallout games with real time strategic combat.

Not necessarily. I loved Diablo 1&2. Hated Diablo 3. But I don't play many of those either. Tried Grim Dawn, was pretty fun. Torchlight was fun for a few hours. Loved Neverwinter Nights back in the day as well.. Thought about trying Path of Exile, but haven't. Games like Divinity I don't really want to try as I don't feel like playing such big and time consuming games right now.

Not my type of game. Despite being a PC gamer, I don't play strategy games.

But cool, nonetheless.

You dislike top-down RPGs too?

Not necessarily. I loved Diablo 1&2. Hated Diablo 3. But I don't play many of those either. Tried Grim Dawn, was pretty fun. Torchlight was fun for a few hours. Loved Neverwinter Nights back in the day as well.. Thought about trying Path of Exile, but haven't. Games like Divinity I don't really want to try as I don't feel like playing such big and time consuming games right now.

Hmmm... so you at least like some of them. Thought that you'd be like me, not interested in RTS or top-down RPGs whatsoever. Oh... I confess that BG Dark Alliance 1-2 were good with a friend, but that's about it.

When I look at a "GAME" like this and see this is the type of title that hermits are hyping...and then think about the console games hermits hate on for weak "GAMEPLAY" I just have to laugh to myself.

Console games actually have the highest requirement for gameplay skill + fun.

  • Bloodborne
  • Bayonetta
  • Horizon Zero Dawn
  • Nioh, (amazing PC players managed to have fun with this console port)
  • Souls (another franchise GIFTED to PC players from consoles)
  • God of War
  • Devil May Cry

PC only gets makeshift B rated gameplay titles Kingdom Come Deliverance as exclusives but nothing on the level of console games best.

As for this title, there is little no "gameplay" here IMO.

This is point and click shit. It's like a virtual board game.

Honestly this "game" is no better than console games like Detroit Become Human that hermits like to call movie games...only this is on the traditional top-down isometric point of view.

................................................

On topic:

Happy PC players actually have a great game that they can enjoy and be proud of.

I don't have to like a game to acknowledge it's doing something right and caters to certain demographic.

I'm not into RTS, MMO or those Top-Down isometric strategy board games but if you're into that genre PC defiantly has the best.

Happy playing fellow gamers.

Yeah, but I get bored of them quickly. And if Diablo 3 is any indication of how good the top down ARPG genre is going to be going forward, I probably wont play one ever again.
