FromSoftware says that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be harder than Dark Souls and Bloodborne

I don't know if this will be a good thing or bad thing to be honest lol but if it does end up being harder then the Souls series and Bloodborne then I don't mind that I'm up for a much greater challenge. How do you guys feel about this?

Fine by me. I haven’t any qualms about a game’s demand that I become adept with its mechanics to progress.

I am ready. the challenge is not the not the thing drawing me to this games, it's the immersive world, well i guess it's gotta be a little challenging to feel that the world is convincing.

They know their audience. Meh. Focus on making a good game. Bloodborne and Dark Souls III were more annoying than they needed to be.

Cool. Souls games are always rough in the beginning, but usually get easier as you get used to the systems, enemies, and build your character.

I can do harder than DS and BB.

Well, as long as the challenge it presents is actually fun and engaging to deal with, then I'm game.

I bet it won't be. They employ tricks to make their games seem "hard." That shit got old right after Demon's Souls (well, maybe up to Sens fortress 1st playthrough in dark souls, good times).

I'd rather just replay one of the Soulsborne games. Want the RPG elements

My first BB playthrough was only 22 hours long, my shortest Souls game. So, not sure what you're going on about. Twas still more annoying than it needed to be.

I played all DS/BB/Nioh games so i doubt this game will surprise me.

Well, duh.

Dark Souls and Bloodborne are RPGs (so you can simply out-level or out-equip your enemies), and the enemy attack patterns are usually really obvious.

Sekiro is a pure (skill-based) action game, so you'd expect it to be a lot harder. I figure this'll be more like Bayonetta or DMC in terms of difficulty.

@ezekiel43: The only BS in bloodborne was the nightmare areas and yahargul. Other than that I thought the game was pretty solid

**** off Bloodborne was hard enough (harder than 'souls). I gave up playing Nioh because of the insane difficulty spikes, dying due to getting stuck on the walls and terrain was not fun.

Or they could go down the god of war 4 route and make enemies/bosses be sponges and have a 1 hit kill move.

From software has to be one of the most overrated developers of all time.

They make insanely broken games and have paid off reviewers to push the narrative that their games are “purposely hard”. No, they are broken messes dating back since the first armoured core.

It's easier than all the other souls games and easier than bloodborne as well. It's also a way better game than all these games. Ds3 is still not an easy game though, especially when playing alone

Making the gaming harder than the hardes souls games and removing rpg elements will not be a good idea. It also doesn't have co op. People might be lured in for the graphics and the lore, but if they die 20 times in a row 20 minutes into the game, this will sell the game quite quickly.

That was probably the case with the other souls games as well, or with bloodborne and nioh for that matter. But even someone that loves souls games like myself, I can't see myself buying this game if they remove rpg elements and multiplayer in a game that's even harder than dark souls 1.

No thanks. I truly don't have the grind time to "get gud" with such a thing. I might have been amped up by such news when I was a kid, but these days I gave enough trouble finishing games due to length alone

@boycie: Yes there is but its more like old school zelda games. Grinding won't help you but you get new skills as you progress.

Use the Kusarigama in Nioh. Makes the game a cakewalk.

Glad it has no RPG elements. They just get in the way of a good action game. I've always saw Soulsborne as action-adventures with RPG elements. So it's good to see them finally getting rid of the RPG elements.

I never found Dark Souls particularly hard, it was often more about memorization than anything else. Once you knew the attack patterns, the bosses were sometimes easier than the areas leading up to them.
Some of them are still pretty rough, though. Those are the ones I like.

"Puzzle" fights like The Bed of Chaos are the absolute worst. Once you figure our what to do, you never have problems with them again. It basically ruins the challenge for any future runs, and I like to experiment with different builds a lot.

I fully expect this game to be the same. A whole lot of memorization going on, maybe with faster combat like Bloodborne, but I never found faster combat to be harder. It's just a different approach, doesn't really change shit.
In the end, I play these games for the lore, though. And on that front, I am fully expecting this to be a lot worse than Dark Souls 1 & 3 and definitely worse than Bloodborne. Would love to be wrong on that one.
