@metalboi: it is a bit overengineered, perhaps, so I could see this being a somewhat widespread issue. But I'd wait and see before it becomes labeled a clear epidemic. There was a bunch of b.s. around here about the switch at launch which by now it's clear was isolated incidents and/or easily fixed by nintendo

Nobody else at Forbes has described any issues with the X. I've seen scattered reports of other problems online, but there does not yet appear to be anything widespread.

@metalboi: He doesn't. I know he just bought one and I hope his doesn't break. It could be a widespread problem, or it could be an isolated instance, but sucks it happened to a reviewer on a popular website. Kinda why I asked if anyone else had any issues.(Doubt I'll get honest replies anyways)... I've already posted my issue after I bought my PS4. It was spitting out discs while I was playing or in the middle of the night. I had to open it up and put a piece of black electrical tape over the sensor and hasn't had the issue since, but I have to eject using the controller. I've also had to replace the R2 bumper on my controller. So he can call me a cow or whatever but at least I'm honest about my purchases.

Xbox One X user here and I can report no issues at all so far. Been putting hours into it as well playing Call of Duty & Assassins Creed every night.

With hardware; any hardware, nothing is perfect.

Probably had his Xbox too close to a wall or something. Apparently, the X puts out a bunch of heat through the back and if it's blocked in any way, it could lead to overheating. It also doesn't have good thermal paste according to gaming nexus.

all new hardware has some failures. this is normal and shouldnt be a big deal

Gonna take a good while before anyone knows if the X1X is truly prone to failure, or if it's the typical launch window troubles and "acceptable" percentage of failures.

Hmmm I guess, but I think the gap is bigger now than it has been all gen... Just with Wolfenstein, X has 2.25x the number of pixels compared to the Pro. Pretty impressive.

sometimes its worth the risk.....ive done it before and the last time i was let down was the original psp. outside of that wether it was the 360 ps3 ps2 ps4 wiiu gamecube ps1 ive never had an issue

it is very impressive hardware. but the year gap helped msoft. at bestbuy and walmart today and every X shelf was empty. id dive into an X is MS supported their first party more. ill hold off for now and just pick up the S on black friday.

my only gripe with my pro was a lack of a UHD blu ray drive....stupid sony

Yeah, fair enough... the X certainly isn't for everyone.

And yes, it's ridiculous that Sony of all companies, didn't put a UHD drive in their consoles. Especially Pro.

With the small amount of issues that have shown up already, is it just random or it happening more with the SE consoles or the other way around?

it makes zero sense. ive had my 4k tv for two years now and waited for reason to get a 4k player and sonys dumb ass said nah. ive been eyeing the S all year and thankfully MS has it dirt cheap.

Mines working fine. Played some halo 5 warzone firefight today and no issues

Temp's might become a issue... Looking at the Gamers Nexus tear down and analysis, it seems that the blower fan pushing air through the power supply the vents on the sides do nothing, all hot air is pushed through the back via blower fan:

If you are using it in a closed cabinet due to the blower fan and PSU heat combination being pushed out the back it could throttle or overheat:

Its the only real concern with the design of X.

@Grey_Eyed_Elf: i keep my consoles in a cabinet, but i also remove the backing of them to allow ease of access to the cables and to allow more ventilation

Launch hardware has some failures who would have guessed. Only idiots buy things on day one, the same idiots who go on a space rockets maiden voyage.

Thermal paste is dookie. Guess I will be waiting for a gen of Scorpio that doesn't need the cray cray cooling solution. Should be cheaper then too.
