F.I.S.T. - an indie 2.5D game that looks better than Metroid Dread, a first party 2.5D game

It's baffling that in 2021 we're having indie games looking better than first party one.

F.I.S.T. is an atmospheric 2.5D metroidvania for PS4/PS5 and PC. We don't know at what resolution it'll run on PS5, but it'll be higher than 1080p and I guarantee that it'll be locked 60fps on PS5. PC will run this beauty at whatever the most high end rig can do, so probably 4k/144fps.

Metroid Dread, on the other hand, is on the weaker inferior Nintendo Switch, it'll run probably at sub 1080p/60fps with fps (see link's awkening for reference). And it looks like a PS3 game with better lightning.

It's sad that Nintendo can barely reach indie-like graphics and performance with their first party titles...

Lets be clear, xbox 360 games from a decade ago look better than Metroid Dread. Dread is just Nintendo trolling Metroid fans, not an actual proper Metroid game.

To troll or to cashgrab them? Because we all know Nintendo fans are starving for content and will buy anything Nintendo shoves at them as long as they have the Nintendo logo. Not unlike Apple fans tbh. I like the Switch but the way the fans eat anything pushes at them is gross.

Actually I've been keeping an eye on FIST for a while now. I liked the character design but didn't know how it would play. Looks great... like an amped up Sega Genesis game.

Yeah, Fist looks right up my alley. Glad indies like Kena and Fist are slowly but surely growing in numbers. Too many pixel-art 8/16bit like games got tiresome and old fast.

Damn, visually FIST is pretty impressive, hope it plays just as well.

Why does a new Metroid game make so many elitists upset?

SW (primarily of the Playstation camp) has really been going out of its way to throw as much shade to Metroid 5 as possible.

@jaydan: It really upsets you that indie games look better than Nintendo first party, doesn't it? Well, maybe next gen Nintendo will be able to make what indies do right now.

All you people focus on is graphics and visuals as attempt to throw shade at the Metroid IP, and yet not a single one of you question whether or not the gameplay is even good for any of them. Average games with pretty visuals are simply not good enough when compared to the Metroid IP.

At the end of the day, elitists can throw shade all they want in spite of envy, with whatever glossy game they want; none of these games will ever have an entire genre named after them.

This is the first time I'm hearing about Fist: Forged In Shadow Torch and seeing this trailer really got me invested into now. As for Metroid: Dread, still hype for that game as well. That said, I'll be buying both Fist and Dread day one purchase. What a great time to be a gamer😉

Yea, but the thing is, Metroid, of any Nintendo franchises, is the game with the best atmosphere (for me that is, but i am sure many would agree as well). Graphics, will only enhance it, so yes, i care about visuals in a game like this. Not only is Dread failing at them, but their god damn art direction is🤢

Graphics aren't everything and gameplay looks different. Fist looks to be a combo based brawler sidescroller vs Dread's running with a stick shooter sidescroller element. That being said, with side by side comparisons Fist does look alot more detailed graphically. Plus, if your comparing the two Fist is half the price at $30 and doesn't have a $30 (sold out) toy with ammo and health storage increases locked behind it, so that's something to take into consideration too.

I'm not concerned because it's basically Samus Returns 2 on a better hardware than the 3DS and that's saying something. I don't envy anyone for Dread, I think it will be a good game. I also think people are gonna be setting the bar way too high and will end up disappointed.

TC is right, this does look better than Metroid Dread. But I don't have a PS5, or desire to get one, so I will have to settle for Metroid Dread if anything (not even sure if I even want to bother).

It'll be available on ps4 and pc.
