First Splatoon Review: As Good As Mario Kart

a) Ffs, it's not a website, it's one of the largest and most respected news sources in the world. What you two are saying is tantamount to saying you haven't heard of Reuters, or The Wall Street Journal.

Huh. Didn't recall The Guardian making reviews. Makes sense if they also venture into the movie & music reviews though.

In any case, the fact that this game will only be finished in August would turn me off until that time, should I own a WiiU :P That's not even to mention everything else the game has going against it. Hopefully the gameplay will be worth all those issues and the IP can become a series (Ninty really needs a new shooter given they haven't touched Metroid in a while for whatever reason).

No one here i the UK has heard of the guardian either, we just read The Sun here which tells us Nintendo 3DS will explode our eyes.

Knowing who The Guardian is should be common knowledge. This isn't some underground publication here. They're among the largest media outlets in the UK next to the BBC.

From the look of it and the amount of content offered at launch, i expect 4-6/10. Would be criminal if this crap gets anything over what Destiny got.

Nice to see. See what happens when Nintendo invests a bit of time and money into a new ip--people recognize the quality. I'll most likely pick this up. Too many good wiiu games. Need to get a few I missed, as well.

The game's first Metacritic review is also up, but it's from some site I've never heard of called Kill Screen who gave it an 82.

@Desmonic: They've been reviewing for a long time. It's a massive site, though not particularly a respected one any more on account of it basically abandoning all of it's principals. Do have some respect for their game scores though, so I've no doubt the reviewer played splatoon and enjoyed it.

lol I've heard of The Guardian. Kinda surprised they put out some review on Splatoon. Seems like all you hear about UK gaming wise is military shooters and FIFA.

The Guardian are not particularly great at reviewing games to be honest. Unless I'm mistaken, they usually give every call of duty and fifa perfect glowing reviews every year without fail

It could score 10/10 here and I still wouldn't but it, even if it was on a SONY platform.

Good that it got a good review, now I hope enough people get it to warrant playing it. I wouldn't want to get a copy only to discover nobody goes online to play it.

IGN Portugal gave it a 9.3.

Seems the gameplay itself is amazing. It's just everything else that's kinda out there.

@silversix_: why there is no way the game is as much of a shit barrel as destiny.

The issue with such games is ... for how long it will be fun ? Few hours , few days ... ? That wont do for a multiplayer ... Thats the big bet with this title ..

"As good as Mario Kart" is high praise. I doubt that it's that good, but if it is then I won't complain.

Currently don't have plans to pick it up at full price. Maybe that will change if a friend purchases it and I love it upon playing.
