Final Fantasy IX: Now Available on PS4

Not only the greatest FF game ever made, but my own personal favorite game in all existence, was announced as being ported (after being leaked the day before) and is set to make its debut on PS4 today.

I had a glance at the trophy list and mind my language, but goddamn. You are going to get the whole experience chasing down its platinum, including the 1000x jump rope mini quest (which first takes place in the first scene following the title splash) and ranging to having to obtain the Excalibur II (a hidden weapon not accessible unless you reach the final boss within 12 hours). I highly suggest reserving that second for a second playthrough.

But regardless, if you've never played it or a FF game before, this is the one to check out. With mods built into the game that allow you to accelerate the in-game speed or forego random encounters altogether, it's one of - and, by me, the best - JRPG to have originated out of the JRPG golden era of the PS1.

One caveat: the enhanced character models clash with the static backgrounds and aren't as aesthetically fitting as their sub-res PS1 counterparts. But if you can adjust, it is a game that resoundingly shaped my childhood and generated a deep passion for the medium that carries on today.

It's my all time favourite Final Fantasy game, knew this was coming to PS4 sooner or later just like what happened with Final Fantasy VII same game but clearer visuals and trophy support

Best Final Fantasy game out there. And I just bought it on Steam during the sale. I'll probably buy this one in the future....again for the fourth time.

As much as i like this game, this is milking the **** out of it. 16 dollars for a digital game from the Ps1? Come on now.

I'm playing the original at least once every year, since it's in my top 3 games of all time. Excited for PS4 owners!
Would be a dream come true if they ever release this on Switch, but that probably will never happen.

Oh well, I could always buy the mobile version I guess. :(

Waiting for the PC/PS4 port of Final Fantasy 8

Beat FF9 on PC recently so I won't be getting this. If you haven't played the game, its definitely worth it.

Oh, and VIII will never come because it goes down as one of the worst in history. The majority of people simply do not like the shitty junction system.

That's cool although I personally liked FFVI, VII, VIII, and X more however I did enjoy it. Seems a bit pricy though for what it is. Those PSOne prerendered backgrounds didn't age too nicely.

I played the Android version last year but gave up after 40 hrs. I dudn't like the trance mechanics but the cliché story just couldn't keep me interested.

I still have it for PS1, although it's not the original copy. I made the mistake playing this while also playing Skies of Arcadia and Grandia II... AT THE SAME TIME!

Three RPGs at once is nuts. Trying to keep the story lines straight is a mental task for me.

FF8 is out on PC. Though, I find the PC ports are generally pretty shit. FF9 isn't an exception, though much better than 7/8 were initially. I'm buying 9 on PS4 again, simply due to the better controls (8 vs. 16 direction).

That was what I figured and agree. I think I did that once and got overwhelmed but don't remember what the games were.

If youre an FF7 fan like i am , try the steam version full moded !! Its so impressive really !

Sony fan- The Xbox backwards compatibility is a waste of time since Sony allows us to buy last gen games again.

No wonder Sony fans are called cows cause they get milked again and again and the worst part they defend Sony for doing it to them.

I played it on PC recently, definitely one of the best FF games, probably my second favorite after 8.
