Pretty impressive for a third party exclusive. This is my favorite game of the year so far. Your thoughts, SW? Have you played it? Want to play it? Sony has been having an incredible 2020. Keep 'em coming!

Haven't played it yet. Not on the top of my "want to play" list. Also waiting if there will be a PC version in April.

Haven't played the original but know the major characters. Loved the Remake. I hope Part 2 would be playable soon.

Shame that it’s a timed exclusive for such a long time, sales could be so much more right now. Hopefully the interest will still be there when the other versions launch. Anyway the game looks like it turned out to be amazing which is great to see. I’m waiting for the Xbox version myself and am really looking forward to seeing how this’ll look on the Xbox Series X.

Well deserved. I've been loving it; an easy top 10 game of the gen for me.

Yeah that does seem kinda low I Mean the original FF7 sold 10 million and animal crossing sold like 22 million

5 mill just seems kinda meh for a big hitter remake like this.

nice. hard to say how successful it is financially. it should be a very nice money earner with those numbers but it was in the oven for a very long time and seemed to struggle a bit from development hell.

if its not making money on 5 million sales though then the industry has officially gone completely cookoo. that's not sustainable at all.

i haven't played it yet. waiting until i either get a PS5 or for the PC release. usually i have a simple rule: multiplats to the PC. but i played FF7 on the PS1 back in the day so i am kinda iffy on what i will get it on.

I would expect the game sell through possibly 10 millions at the end of its run which is higher than any FF game as far I know

I really enjoyed it. Beat it.

The problem is that I'm now exactly where I was in the PS1 version as I never got passed disc 1... only getting to the over world map.

My GOTY is probably going to Ghost though. FF7 Remake is 2nd though.

The end of the Midgar segment was where I started losing interest in the original FFVII too. The rest of the world is kinda bland compared to Midgar -- which was an extremely fascinating location. I always felt like we never got to see enough of it in the OG FFVII.

For a legendary game that's very deserving of a remake, that seems remarkably low, considering the sheer amount of ps4's out there.

loved the game and even platinum it. though its abit disappointment that the game didnt even finished disc 1 compred to the original game.

So I would say 5 million in 4 months on one platform is pretty good.

5 million sales at $60 = $300 million

I highly doubt this game cost more than $100 million.

OG FF7 took almost a year to reach 5 million sales worldwide. FF7R did it within several months. FF7R should eventually catch-up to OG FF7 sales.

Animal Crossing is an apples-to-oranges comparison. The market for online multiplayer games is a lot bigger than single-player games.

@Jag85: The game has been in production for ages. Game development cost are now higher than ever. Developers are trying to raise the price of game cause they don't make enough money.

Tomb Rider sold 6 million and the developer said sales weren't good enough. Capcom stated Resident Evil sales were bad.

The original FF7 cost 45million to make and had a marketing budget of 100million. So yes my good sir, 5million copies sold is a straight flop for a game like this. You wont hear Square bragging about these poor numbers.

And we don't even know how much they have to pay Sony and retail stores.

Yea ok, 5 million units in 4 months is not a flop dude. Are you forgetting that this is coming to Xbox and PC as well? And this is only 1 episode.

@SolidGame_basic: Which will cost more money for advertizing and sell much worst. PS4 games have no legs, that's why these numbers are so depressing for such a big game. The game sold about 4 million in three days, now just 5 MILLION. That's horrible numbers.
