There was no UK lockdown when Animal Crossing released. The UK lockdown began the week after it released. And that's why Animal Crossing tanked in the UK during its second week:
UK Charts: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Sales Fall By 81% In Disappointing Week For Nintendo
Animal Crossing had a stellar first week (before lockdown), but a disappointing second week (after lockdown). So do you want to make a thread about how Animal Crossing flopped its second week in the UK?
and yet last week japan declared a state of emergency and animal crossing still sold almost a million physical. should i make that thread after yours?
Again, there was no Japan lockdown when Animal Crossing released in Japan. It released on 20 March, several weeks before Japan declared a state of emergency on 7 April. And there hasn't been any Famitsu chart update since then.
Simply put, Animal Crossing got lucky. It managed to release a week before the UK went into lockdown, and several weeks before Japan declared a state of emergency.
state of emergency or not the CDC has encourage quarantine since the virus became an issue back in februrary and animal crossing sold tons.
there was even a meme that animal crossing is the game thats saving everyone from quarantine boredom.
i dont believe corona killed ff7. i think ps4 is a dead console and the game is on 1 system only and its a mini series type game which turned a lot of people off as well.
The CDC is based in America, not the UK or Japan. Whatever advice the CDC gives is totally irrelevant to the UK and Japan. As for the US, even the White House (and the dumbass US president whose GIFs you love so much) was denying COVID-19 was a problem until just a few weeks ago. Which led to most Americans ignoring the CDC guidelines until just a few weeks ago.
There's a big difference between giving advice and an actual lockdown. Giving advice means you can take it or leave it. You still have a choice. Most people ignored the advice, and continued going about their daily lives as usual. When the game stores were still open, you still had the option of going to pick up Animal Crossing at the store. With the game stores now shut down, you can't physically buy FFVII from any game stores, period. It's not rocket science.
And then there's the supply chains which have shut down, making it difficult for supply to meet demand. FF7R is faced with stock shortages, and supply being unable to meet demand. Something which I'm sure you must be familiar with as a Nintendo fan, since Nintendo frequently exploits artificial stock shortages in order to generate hype and demand.
