Final Fantasy 15 is SE's most expensive project to date

They'll release this, it'll sell poorly, and then SE will ascend to their highest form; an exclusive mobile/browser developer.

More than their MMOs? I'm Skeptical. Still, any project gestating as long as this one has to have racked up some bills.

I have zero faith in Square-Enix at this point. All that remains is a corpse, the soul left that company long ago.

In a way this title won't be so different from FF1 in that respect, they have to jumpstart interest in the FF name again, it's all weighing on this title.

Weirdly enough its still one of my most anticipated games even with the warning signs. The longer dev times aren't entirely indicative of a dnf scenario, but some of the gameplay shown so far show less promise unfortunately.

I wonder if this means we will get a FFXV-2 and then FFXV: Noctis Returns...

I'm both interested and worried about this game.

A date wasn't officially announced but the latest was that it was slated for this year. This being the latest, it's no longer slated for this year?

FFXII is also in my top 5 in the series.

Anyways my expectations for XV are low. Even back in E3 06 (lmao) I wasn't all that interested in it.

The series hit its peak with FF6 and has been downhill from there, slowly dying for 20 years now.

I didn't like FF9 all that much to be honest. The reason I consider FF4 and 6 to be the best was the gameplay and story. FF9 had the old art style but not a great story. 7 and 12 were better.

XII was amazing, VII was great, XIV is incredible.

I love X so let's avoid killing each other over it. :P

XIV ARR was fun but I get bored with mmos pretty quickly even playing with friends. Played it for about a month.

Well yeah the game was first announced, what, 9 years ago? This doesn't surprise me at all.

What WOULD surprise me is if this game doesn't completely suck balls.

I'm pretty much expecting some impressive visuals, a decent ost, some crappy gameplay and a horrible story.

Why are people even stoked to this to begin with? People were stoked even before any major details had been released except knowing it was supposed to be a PS3 exclusive. And people remain stoked even though they bitch and moaned about FFXIII's three releases. Anyhow, not surprised if most expensive game. FFXIII took like 6 years to develop, they've been working on FFvsXIII/FFXV for like 8 years and counting.

Anyhow, I think it's better I don't have hopes for this game, so I can just enjoy it. I think everybody who has had a hard-on for this game from its first announcement stand to be most disappointed, like all those FFXIII haters; I enjoyed those, probably because I had no expectations, while it seems like many others didn't.

Would encourage trying the HD re-release of X if you're willing to spend the money, I just got finished playing it haha

From my friends who are still playing it I actually hear the XIV endgame is fun. I just never really have the patience to get to the endgame.

Yeah, I was thinking of buying it on Vita. P4G made me fall in love with a game that at best I was ambivalent towards, so I am hoping FFX HD on Vita does the same for me.

Yeah I never got that into P4 on the PS2 either, been thinking about giving it another try on the Vita.

I highly doubt this game will be more expensive than XIV, an MMO isn't a cheap thing to make (twice and going).

If you got the money, spend it. The game looks awesome already and it is only going to get better. I feel good with the team Nomura has been put in charge of ranging from Yoko Shimomura's music score to Yusuke Naora producing the art.

Final Fantasy has, and always will have, people who hate *insert numbered FF here* and vice versa. I just read some comments on how Final Fantasy XII was one of the best and I couldn't stand that game. It is the only Final Fantasy game I have ever traded in and didn't care what happened to it. Just one of the reasons Final Fantasy has and always will be a popular franchise

No expectations FF has been garbage since FFX-2.

I'm pretty sure that most of what we know about the story points to the plot being very similar to Hamlet. There's been a lot of discussion on it.

I agree that VI was the peak, but there have been some good sequels since then. It hasn't been a steady downhill trend, more like a bunch of ups and downs.... Then with XIII they decided to jump off a cliff.

As long as it is nothing like XIII, I'm willing to give it a shot.

This. The trailers so far seem to point to the main plot being like a modern/gangster/fantasy interpretation of Hamlet. It seems like Noctis is modelled after the teenage Prince Hamlet, whose father is killed by his uncle and he seeks vengeance for it, in the process losing his sanity and getting people around him killed, to get that revenge. So far, the trailers seem to point in Hamlet's direction.

At the same time, earlier trailers also hint at a Romeo & Juliet sub-plot, with the rival families in a gang war and the teenage lovers caught in between. This might make a good sub-plot, but I don't think it would work so well as the main plot in an action RPG.

Fyi the only reason why FF15 is "SE most expensive project" is because they're fraking idiots. God only knows how much time and money was wasted trying to make FF13 versus...oh I mean FF15 for the PS3 back when it was first announced what 7 fraking years ago and now they're forced to make it for the PS4!?, holy fraking wasted time and money batman, seriously SE get your shyt together.

Guess that goes to show that running a MMO on no profit (Had the game subscription free for a hella long time while they worked on it and then closed it down for a good while as well.) is still less cash consuming than AAA production.
