I enjoyed the last chapter of Gears 5 campaign until I played the Final Boss.

Lol, the last boss was boring and cheap! I died and had to restart a bunch of times because the timing to shoot their weak spot was so short. Also, it was a repeat of pretty much the same fight as the previous encounter.

Your turn, SW!

I enjoyed the call of duty franchise until Modern Warfare 2

It's by far one of the most popular entries, but they removed so much of what made this series good.

And now Vanguard is just filled with cutscenes? Lol, no thanks! I want to play a WW2 game, not watch a movie trying to rewrite actual events.

I enjoyed Wave 2 DLC of the Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, The Guardian of Rememberance, until I completed every mission, every quest (including the Memory Quests), unlocked every new weapon, complete every character vignettes, unlocked the two playable characters (Purah & Robbie and Sooga), and finally unlocked the secret ending cutscene. I completed everything in the Wave 2 DLC in less than two days and I have nothing left to do. I already completed everything in the Wave 2 DLC, the Pulse of the Ancients several months ago.

Quite disappointed that the Age of Calamity DLC expansion pass does not compare to the one found in the Breath of the Wild DLC expansion pass.

I enjoyed Blizzard games until they started becoming shit; especially with Warcraft III Reforged and Activision-Blizzard got hit blow after blow with everything going on with that company...

I enjoyed Castlevania, until I found out item drops were randomized and unbalanced, which ruined the whole the "you have tools to deal with them".

Ultimately holy water becomes so OP that picking up any other weapon becomes nothing but an annoyance.

This can be confirmed as not just me by watching almost any play through from a competent player on Youtube. 98% of the time, last third of game is holy water city.

Loading Video...

It renders the stop watch pointless as the stun-lock itself serves the same purpose with damage, and unlike the stop-watch which eats up 5+ hearts, Holy Water only uses 1.

The forward momentum of the game, timer, enemy spam, platforms means that the majority of players far from being given multiple options to deal with enemies will be punished with lesser tools if they accidentally jump into unwanted pickups, which, without repetitive playthroughs, is a given. Especially in the later stages. The game can mitigate this with a continue screen, but nonetheless, trial and error. This isn't like Desp3 where it's designed for experimentation, lit just picking up shit you do not want with items that are objectively inferior.

In the case of bosses it doesn't give an "option" to deal with them, it literally nullifies them into being static. While something like the stop-watch is useless requiring higher resources.

Dracula, it is fixed. Straight up gives the player holy-water making the penultimate ultimate, ultimate battle nothing short of a joke.

Overall, Shinobi is better.

I enjoyed Skyrim until I started meleeing Revered Dragons to death in less than a minute and taking minimal damage. OPness gets boring after a while.

I enjoyed Assassin's Creed games until they stopped being about assassinating people.

I enjoyed Call of Duty games until I figured out that I've already played them all.

I sorta enjoyed Destiny 2 until they wiped out my campaign progress in the Steam move, then lost me completely with the whole content vaulting stuff.

I enjoyed Diablo, Titan Quest and other hack'n'slash ARPGs until I physically couldn't play them any more.

That's off the top of my head.

I enjoyed Metroid Dread until the Emmis appeared :S. I'm actually impressed how quickly the game put me off. But everything up to that was great.

In a somewhat similar vein: I enjoyed Zelda: Phantom hourglass until i had to return to the central dungeon.....ugh. stupid dungeon.

I enjoyed Destiny until they released DLC packs that rendered all your farmed and leveled weapons and armor useless. Pay more money to re-level your already leveled gear to keep it relevant.... Cool....

I enjoyed the idea of a GTA Trilogy Remaster until I learned about the shooting controls

I enjoyed FF until XV

I enjoyed the Metroid franchise until the guard break and combat changes

I enjoyed portable gaming until they stopped making systems that would fit in my pocket

I enjoyed stereoscopic 3D games until they stopped making them and the proper displays

I enjoyed messing with cheat codes until they were barely ever implemented

That is what a developer with zero endgame creativity must do to keep people playing. Zero IQ dev.

I enjoy Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order until I found out it was too damn short of a game😭

Love the game but it needed more! More stuff to explore, more side-quest, a living city you can get lost and interact with stuff is what really hurt the game the most.

Really? I know that's a bummer for you, but I'm interested in giving it a go know. My time is a premium, so I could use a shorter game.

I enjoyed The Messenger until it tried to be a Metroidvania. It went from being one of my favorite Indies of last gen to being one of my least favorite games of last gen. It was a great side scroller and 2D platformer but a lousy, lousy Metroidvania.

I enjoyed the beginning of Mafia 3 until the mission structure changed and you kept doing repetitive missions like taking over enemy warehouses and then killing the boss ect.. this should of been a side mission not filler for the main story. The game had so much potential it started off great but turned into a lazy grind fest.

Until devs begin to focus an advanced ai, there's no way around bullet sponges, especially at the endgame kind of activities.

@pmanden: Actually, there’s a lot of overblown reactions to bf2042, and I’m one of the people guilty of that.

The game itself looks gorgeous. There’s some frame drops on xsx, but nothing like on some pcs. The main criticisms are lack of scoreboard, lack of voice chat, lack of game variations, too much grind and too many players at time.

Long list, but all fixable. Bf3 on portal is brilliant, and a lot of fun….which is what I’m missing on 2042; It’s bloody hard. The grind is real. 6 hours in I’ve unlocked 2 guns and 3 attachments. Meanwhile, cheats are using portal to farm xp and level up which makes it even harder for those who are not cheating.

I’ll watch the update logs with interest.

Two that come to mind...

I enjoyed mgs5 until they began to explain base invasions.

I enjoyed batman Arkham Knight until I had to drive the batmobile down a sewer system.
