Now if only someone could make a game that looks and plays as great specifically for the Vita. Can I get a hell yeah? Either way, I'm glad the game is on system and 3DS owners should be a little jelly.

The game looks amazing on the vita! everytime i start it up i end up loving the Vita so much more the device plays the game so well and Yuna looks hotter than ever!
Vita is seriously an epic console on the go
been addicted to the game for a while now.
Platinumed it on the PS3
F*ck me if I was going to max out the sphere grid for every character on a handheld
You platinumed it? are you kidding me? your saying you completed every single node in the grid sphere? for ALL characters? what the ****!
dude i got all eaons, most of the legendary weapons and on my way to fight Omega and not even close to completing half of the grid sphere for one character yet alone all of them.
what the **** seriously.
Just rented the PS3 version. I never had a PS2 so this is my first playthrough. Finding it pretty enjoyable thus far. Looks really crisp and the graphics hold up fairly well considering it's already 12 years old. Still sometimes you see the cgi cutscenes and it's like: "wow that's how PS4 in game graphics look now" lol.
@Blabadon: easy: win battle, get AP, connect two dots by spending AP, claim rewards (abilities, HP up, STR up, etc)
The main character models look great, every other character looks like complete and total shit though. Still love the game though.

I've never played FFX before.
It's pretty much the last great Final Fantasy

Thats true i did notice it big time but man who cares all you need is Yuna to look at <3
seriously every time i play this game i get amazed how this huge game works so smoothly on the vita, the possibilities for this device are endless!
@Blabadon: it's like Tales of Xillia's level up system, if you've played that. It's simple.
You should have this game by now, bro. It just went down $10 retail.
FFX, my favourite RPG of all time. Might have to get it for PS3. I played this game for HUNDREDS of hours on the PS2, I think I had 400 hours my most complete save. (I accidentally overwrote a save with 220 hours of game time when I let my sister play for about 2 hours.. Biggest rage ever) so much content, never got repetitive/boring. One of the best storylines ever. That plot twist yo.
It does.... but i cant remember ff10 being this crap..... linear, boring sotry, barely any worthwhile character developement... and cringeworth dialogue. yikes.... i guess 10 years ago as a young teen I accepted this crap.
Tidus's hair looks really weird in the vita version.
But then again, Tidus looks weird in general.
and is annoying as frak
At least Auron is still a BAMF, in fact the only character I hate in FFX is Tidus lol.
Ive been playijng on my vita when i do overnights for work. Ffx was always one of my favorite rpgs ever. It looks great but im not looking forward to dodging hundres of lightning bolts with vita sticks!

Hope I don't feel the same lol... I was only 9 years old when it came out in 2001 :L

the gameplay is still good.... but the story/animation is just cringeworthy.... even the emotional scenes.

That I did - you can check my ID on PSNprofiles if you don't believe me (card is below). Also, I did it on the original grid in place of the expert one - the original has more slots, plus I didn't have much interest in playing FFX in a way that was different from the original.
Maxing the sphere grid isn't as daunting as it initially seems. Once you have the Monster Arena completed, you can farm One-Eye for Triple AP weapons and transform them into Triple Ap, Triple Overdrive, Overdrive -> AP experience tools. From there, turn your overdrive modes to comrade (charges when ally takes damage) and your attacker's overdrive to Stoic (charges when you take damage) and each battle against the Don Tonberry will net 20 or so moves per attack. Each battle you can easily max out your moves to 99 with that setup.
The more annoying problem is stocking up enough spheres to complete the grid. The fastest way is to farm Kottos, who - if you use a distiller - will give you 40x any one sphere as a drop. But when you have 7x characters moving around the grid with 99 moves all the time, you burn through the spheres quicker than anything else. Hence, why you have to keep replenishing and constantly.
The largest annoynace by far is farming luck spheres from Earth Eater. Even maxed out, it's a drawn-out fight each time because of his auto-counter with flare whose animation you have to sit through EVERY.DAMN.TIME. Of course you could just purchase Clear Spheres and remove all the luck spheres from the grid but it works against you when you go toe-to-toe with some of the Dark Aeons and Penance (assuming you aren't cheesing them by buying Zanmato from Yojimbo - which, admittedly, I did against Dark Anima. I was too much in a rush to get to Penance to put up with that 8mil HP whore).

The lightning bolts can be cheesed using the method in the video below.
Lightning Dodge Exploit
It's particularly useful for the PS3 version, especially, because the upscaling actually causes a pretty distinct delay and it's ridiculous to get ten in a row let alone 200.
Someone explain grid spheres to me
If you're familiar with classic JRPGs, the standard fare is you win a battle and get XP. XP accumulates and once it reaches a certain tier, you "level up" and get statistical upgrades to your characters' abilities.
In FFX, the sphere grid replaces that system. Each "level up" instead translates to a grid "move," meaning you get to move to another slot on the grid (think of it like a giant game of monopoly). At each slot, you get to decide whether or not you want to spend an item from your inventory to purchase the statistical upgrade from that slot (as opposed to getting a randomized bump). The kink is that you have full control over where your character gets to go and can mold them into any role you want - this is particularly accentuated when you use the "expert grid" in FFX HD, which replaces the original grid and allows you more freedom to turn Tidus into a White Mage, if you prefer, and Rikku into your damage dealer.
I'm trying to recall FFXIII's twist on that system (which simplified it tremendously, from my recollection) but each moment I spend thinking about that game invokes the same pain I experienced playing it.
Tiny screen in 640p and no dolby digital? lolnothanks
Sometimes i think the concept of a portable goes over people's head sometimes.

Bigger screen then 3DS and a higher resolution too.
I think you mean "than" instead of "then". ;) But yeah, it's still not HD, and no 3D lololol. So pedestrian...
Just saying, while there are legit reasons that this game is nothing to be excited about. the fact that a vita doesn't have dolby and a TV sized HD screen is not one of them.

hahaha some of you forum boys are so serious. :P

That tiny screen is an OLED panel and as deeper black levels than any monitor and any TV, even rivaling that of a Kuro or high-end Panasonic plasma VT60/ZT60 from last year. Excellent colour performance too, like a high end IPS panel.
640p doesn't look bad on a 5" screen either and no dolby digital? Most people will probably play through the CRAPPY built in speakers or CRAPPY standard earbuds/iphone earbuds. If I were to game on a VITA it would be through my proper high-end Denon headphones, but still.

The color red is most significant when looking at the OLED panel with one's own eyes. It absolutely pops out at you and is so vivid.
Its hard to be jelly over yet another Vita port. Especially one I played half to death over a decade ago on my old PS2. If I were to ever play this again, it would be for the PS3.

The game came out 12 years ago. You do realize there was a whole new generation of gamers that missed it?
No thanks. Final Fantasy 10 and 10-2 are the worst final fantasy games
Have you played the FFXIII series? And - assuming you have - you still say FFX/FFX-2 are worse?
Final Fantasy XIII-2 >> Final Fantasy X >>> Final Fantasy XIII >>>>>>>>>>>> Final Fantasy X-2

Well that's technically not the worst then. I can't see past my own disgust for FFXIII to rank anything lower (and yes, I share in the FFX-2 hate)
Where does LR:FFXIII fit?

10-2 was the worst, but 10 was the best.
