Already does on consoles plus there will be NVIDIA Gameworks features. This has disaster written all over it. Even on the Xbox One X it can't maintain a locked 30fps on High Mode. The game starts slowing down after several hours of play and the console needs to be rebooted. To this day it still has frame-pacing issues on PS4.

Japanese developers typically struggle with PC even more than with consoles. This does not bode well for the PC release.

I hope I'm wrong.

You know it'll run like trash, because it's an FF title being ported to PC by Square-Enix. They are categorically the worst for screwing Final Fantasy PC fans.

FF7/8/9 are pretty damn terrible. 10 is only good because it's a PS4 job as well. The only good PC FF's, are the MMOs, and even XIV was terrible on release.

from my understanding you need the far mod to go above 1080p/it does other performance tweaks. far doesn't fix the crashing, white screen errors (I do believe they're guides to fix this).

most of my steam friends say the game runs fine but doesn't change the fact the game has issues that should had been fixed by a patch. I might just be being paranoid don't want to buy a game and have it not work for me. I plan on buying nier when it goes on sell for 20$.

Also nioh already gotten two patches.

In all likelihood it will run like hot garbage on the pc. The game runs like shit on console. Maybe Square should license an easy to develop for graphics engine so they can focus on making good games.

Heard so. Personally not sure. Played FF XIII Trilogy, X/X-2 HD on PS 3.

BUT

I played TYPE 0 HD on PC, runs great.Plays great.

Im upgrading to a 1080ti next week so hopefully I can play at 1440p max settings.

You got me wrong man. I wanted to know your specs if you can play it great. With your specs? you will max it out on PC easily and enjoy it to the fullest. Go for a steam deal during X-Mas :)

I'm going to be more optimistic.

Final Fantasy 15 was coded for PC first and then "ported" to consoles. That is how the Luminous Engine works. Feel like a lot of limitations found on the console versions of the game are because of CPU limitations on the consoles.

Japanese developers usually have a "hard" time with PC because their engine and game were developed with only consoles in mind. It is time consuming to go back and repurpose an engine/game for a platform it wasn't designed for.

Idk, developers used to tell us ports were bad because consoles and the PC were very different, and M$ said porting a game using DX12 should be easy. Well they're very similar now and even with something like DX12 it doesn't seem to have changed much. What's the excuse now?

Even if its a excellent port, the engine and game clearly have issues. In the DF video they said that the performance would randomly drop for no reason after long playing periods and quick reset fixed it.

The game might need some patching, that being said if you have a GPU higher than the X you should be able to brute force the game and get 1440p at 60FPS with something like a 1080 or Vega 64. We shall see though. If the game can't run on the X at 30FPS 4K then no GPU will be able to do 4K 60FPS... But 1440p 60FPS will be the ideal for a 1080 Ti owner like me. If it doesn't make that then its a bad port.

Well if its using Win32 then it's harder. If you're using the UWP system (Which they are) it's less work to do.

Nah its engine and game optimisation. Some of these developers aren't as dedicated as the rest in order to make sure a game runs at a steady frame-rate.

Early Access developers have exposed just that and some of these so called "AAA" developers are no different.

Sometimes they outsource it to a bunch of about ten no bodies who can't handle it like Arkham Knight.

But if it has any anti-piracy safeguards then PC gamers will blame its performance entirely on that and not poor optimization, and Nvidia's Gameworks meddling that seems to backfire on them all the same will go ignored too.

For one thing, based on our pixel counts, Final Fantasy 15 does not appear to operate at a stable resolution - depending on the scene, results can be all over the place. In one shot, while looking at the sky, we got 3360x1890 - an increase over the original claim. If we lower the camera, it drops to 3072x1728 - which is a match for the original quote - but elsewhere, we can shift that resolution downwards to 1584p, 1440p or even 1360p

A GTX 1070 is about 15-25% faster than a RX 580... A XB1X is in between the performance of a 580 and 1070. How is the GTX 1070 meant to do 4K 60FPS when the XB1X can't even do 4K 30FPS?...

The X1X has a sh&t CPU right? Haven't the PC fanboys been saying lately that a PC can always do 60 fps due to strong CPU? Well, here we have a game that on the PC should be able to do 60 fps at 4k Ultra settings with a 1070 due to the amazing power of PC hardware.

For one thing, based on our pixel counts, Final Fantasy 15 does not appear to operate at a stable resolution - depending on the scene, results can be all over the place. In one shot, while looking at the sky, we got 3360x1890 - an increase over the original claim. If we lower the camera, it drops to 3072x1728 - which is a match for the original quote - but elsewhere, we can shift that resolution downwards to 1584p, 1440p or even 1360p

A GTX 1070 is about 15-25% faster than a RX 580... A XB1X is in between the performance of a 580 and 1070. How is the GTX 1070 meant to do 4K 60FPS when the XB1X can't even do 4K 30FPS?...

If....... IF...... 60fps is restricted on X due to the lack of CPU grunt then 60fps will be easy on PC.......

That's right, it's better to dial back expectations at this point. This guy is saying it may be able to run it at 4k 60 ultra with a 1070 but that is setting up a potential sick ownage if it falls way short of that which you know it will.

juub had the right idea. Start a damage controlling thread complaining before the release of how bad it will be optimized. If the performance sucks, you guys can blame it on the crappy japanese PC port job. Damage control 101.

And what's the PC performance like? You don't know so you created this thread as damage control in case the PC version performs horrible compared to your expectations. Your expectations, you are expecting a 1070 to drastically outperform the X1X but if it doesn't, you have this thread you can link to. So you can say how you have to be a moron to not know how shitty the Japanese port jobs are and that's why it's performing so horrible on PCs.
