Fear Effect Reinvented announced (PC, PS4, XB1, Switch)

It's nice to see them bring back this series with a remake. If I recall Fear Effect also had a prequel back in the day.

Square Enix Collective, Forever Entertainment, and Sushee have announced Fear Effect Reinvented for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. A “true-to-the-original remake” of the first Fear Effect, which was released for PlayStation in 2000, it will launch in 2018.

The remake will feature completely new graphics remade for today’s standards and a few modifications to make the game “more attractive to today’s players,” while “remaining faithful to the original in terms of features.”

Many years after its original PlayStation debut, Fear Effect, one of the most interesting adventure games ever released is going to make a glorious comeback on PC and consoles next year as Fear Effect Reinvented.

Fear Effect Reinvented is being developed by French team Sushee, the same team working on Fear Effect Sedna.

Sushee founder Nejamin Asnseaume commented on the return of Fear Effect, noting how Fear Effect Reinvented will recapture the spirit of the original release.

"We realised that as well as offering established fans something new with Sedna, it would be great to introduce fresh players to Fear Effect by remaking that first great adventure. Fear Effect Reinvented will capture the same spirit and atmosphere as the original game, but it’ll bring it into the present with drastically improved visuals, tweaked controls and other exciting extras.

Fear not, however. Those original fixed camera angles will remain in place, albeit playing host to some brand new high-definition visuals."

I liked the original games, will be interesting to see how they go about reviving this series.

Judging by how offended the special snowflake generation gets, this game will probably be neutered to hell and back compared to the originals.

BAD ASS!!! Fear Effect and Fear Effect 2 are games I often talk about as unappreciated or forgotten gems. A couple of my favorite PS games. :)

Edit: Hype killed... just watched the 2nd video... WTF..? That isn't Fear Effect... damn... I was hyped as hell. Screw that garbage though... sigh.

Man, I was genuinely pumped... that demo looks horrible though. That is about as much FE as the new Battlefront is akin to the original 2 (at least the 2nd one coming out soon looks a little better though).

Need to start watching the videos first. Went from full hype to David Spade bug on the windshield (Black Sheep).

when i looked at a title for a second i thought we are getting new FEAR reboot/reinvented. damn!!

Fear Effect is my first ever PS1 game that I bought. Though I own the first two games already, I'll happily double dip and buy the remakes.

And with a Switch version too? Looks like another instance where a Nintendo consoles tries to catch up with the original PS in what games it got with remakes of PSOne classics.

Oh, ok right on. I saw that 2nd video and was like... no.. just no.. why? lol. So, it doesn't show much of reinvented, but it's supposed to be a remake? I have to say that Sedna isn't what I am looking for.

A new Fear Effect (that is actually like the first two) would be cool, but I might buy a remake. Sucks that the new one is not Fear Effect if all but name.

Either way, anyone who didn't play the original games, I would strongly suggest playing the remake if they can nail down what made FE such a great game to begin with and it doesn't lose its feel in the translation.

Yeah, they should've made Sedna with gameplay that is more like the original games with fixed camera angles or maybe have it in 3rd person.
