Portability was what really, really helped Nintendo. Japan is big on portability and mobile games, the Switch release at the right place & time. And this is the reason why I'm still enjoying my Switch for it's portability and the exclusives!

This is actually a strong misconception. Portability is indeed a factor but not nearly to the degree most westerners make it out to be.

It's mostly due to the strong IP's (Smash, Splatoon, Pokemon etc) that the Japanese market eat up.

It's waaay easier to just buy a code on Amazon and redeem it on the Switch. No longer possible on PSN which is super lame.

No, he's right. If it were strong IP, then the Wii U would have been at least above 5 million units sold. Switch fits the lifestyle Japan has ongoing. They're very mobile people and not enough time to sit down and play consoles.

Holy hell those menus are laggy and the store is all jumbled. It could be a lot better. MS seems determined to make their menu experience worse and worse. I have an X1X, it's shouldn't lag as bad as it does.

WIIU failed not because it wasn't portable but because it was not marketed properly, not enough of a new idea, didn't grab the interest of the consumer.

We're talking about Japan here.... Switch is selling because of it's portable nature and that's why the 3DS sits at 24 million sold in Japan alone, something the Switch will project to reach vs the PS4 which is struggling to cross the 10 million mark.

Congratulations. The Switch is a big improvement over their previous attempt. But it's funny to see the Sheep now love sales talk.

They hated it if you brought up the shitty ass Wii U sales. They wanted threads closed.

Also, before Sheep start telling others how things should be done, remember that this is Nintendo's second attempt this same generation to make a console that sells. Sure, the Switch is a hybrid and not a pure console, but I don't want to hear Sheep telling Cows or Sony how things should be done. Nintendo couldn't even market or support a regular video game console. You got a second chance, so enjoy it. But don't get all Professory on us and make us sick

The Switch is catching up here in the U.S, mainly mobile gaming is on the rise here. Not much time to be gaming at home for normal adults these days but the Wii U's only fault for not being something completely new from Wii, and the Switch is it's own thing. Nintendo has strong good, exclusive games this time around.

Japan is indeed very mobile now, even Sony recognize this.

While selling extremely well in Japan is an important accomplishment (it leads to more games in the future), I also pointed out the fact that many Sheep hated talking sales not more than three or so years ago. Sure, there was a few moments when the Wii U would surprise and take #1 in Japan or something, but the overall dismal Wii U sales meant that Sheep hated it when PS4 (and even Xbox One at the time) were destroying it, and that Nintendo was in real trouble as a company.

If Sheep said "Maybe Nintendo need to reassess things and figure out how to sell better", I would respect that. But what I primarily saw was "Do you own stock in Nintendo?? Nintendoooooomed! I don't play sales, I'm a gamer."

Stuff like that makes me throw up.

What facts? I was critical of Nintendo with the first years of the Wii U! I knew what they were selling was going to be a complete dud and everything that Sony did was guarantee to win Gen 8. I'm mesuring Nintendo's success now because it was a complete turnaround on how abysmal they handled the Wii U, and how everyone here preached DOOM and GLOOM on Nintendo.

Also, please show me Sheep saying how Wii U sales weren't important. I'll wait

I rather go to store and buy PSN cards than deal with Switch store and its supposed sales.

I don't use any of the console stores if I can help it. Switch is the easiest though as you can just buy a game code on Amazon, pop it in the Switch and you're done. Easy and no extra accounts with credit card info. Also has the benefit of touch screen to type in the code rather than using a controller.

Not sure why you'd go to the store. I just buy PSN money on Amazon.

On X1X I have Game Pass so at least I don't need to do any transactional things.
