TCHBO?

https://www.oculus.com/blog/welcoming-ready-at-dawn-to-facebook/

There are few higher compliments a developer can receive besides, “I dreamed about your game.” Many of us experienced that very phenomenon with Lone Echo—our adventures with the main character Liv were so vivid and the shared empathy so strong, the connection felt real. Ready At Dawn Studios’ storytelling and innovation DNA were on full display in Lone Echo and set the standard for VR narrative adventure, showcasing how virtual reality offers players more immersive, memorable, and emotionally charged experiences. Today, I’m excited to share that Ready At Dawn is joining Facebook—and the future of groundbreaking content in VR has never looked brighter.

Anyways, facebook......eww.

All I can say is, console war aside, you better pray that MS and Sony start snapping up everything not nailed to the ground, before Facebook, Amazon, and Google Stadia start opening up the checkbook.

Lol, probably the stupidest purchase they've made since Oculus Rift.

They want them for their VR platform. VR is cool.

That being said, Facebook should not be anywhere near gaming.

The worst thing that could happen to gaming is if companies like Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple start buying up studios publishers. Microsoft at least could try to out bid them but I doubt either Sony or Nintendo could win a biding war with trillion dollar corporations.

Well there goes Cows hope for a sequel to The Order.

Oculus is building a fairly strong lineup of VR developers.

Wouldn't Sony still own the IP? They could do a sequel if they wanted. Not sure it's an IP anyone is clamoring for. I enjoyed that game enough, but like most people I actually thought the "environments' and IP they created were better than the game itself. It was very short and linear even for it's genre.

Apparantly these guys shave been doing Oculus games only since at least 2017, even before being bought out.

They've already been doing VR, their last 4 games have all been Oculus games. They seem to get good reviews too. So I guess that's what this studio does now permanently.

Oculus exclusives... man that sucks.

Good luck to Ready at Dawn! I am really hoping they were allowed to continue Order:1886 but it may not meant to be. Sony has many promising IPs that they just bury for no reason.

Sony has zero incentive to keep the The Order IP alive. The only hope the franchise had was that Ready At Dawn wanted to make one themselves.

I wonder if that AAA console game based on a new IP they were working on is dead now.

It didn't just come out of nowhere though. Ready at Dawn's last 4 games have been VR and for Oculus. While the games have basically been within the same Lone Echo/Echo Arena zero-gravity universe, they have been well-received. Lone Echo was one of the earliest million-unit sellers and true AAA VR game when there weren't enough, and currently Echo Arena for Quest is one of the most popular free apps for them. Even the devs were shocked at how popular it got.

No, a stupid purchase would be something really out of nowhere, dropping millions for a developer that has no experience in the field you want them to work for, and their recent games selling craptacularly or scoring horribly a majority of the time. Ready at Dawn is not that developer.

As for them "leaving Sony", it's not like RaD was making a ton of games over there. The Order 1886 didn't sell well and was from 2015. Personally I didn't like it much, despite it looking great visually. And then RaD made a cutesy small game called Deformers for all platforms that didn't do well. That was all they did for the console side. There's really not much to miss if this was all they had for consoles in the last 5 years.
