Evil West Lead Producer Claims Xbox Series S Does Not Hold Them Back

https://tech4gamers.com/evil-west-lead-producer-on-series-s/

When asked about the Xbox Series S; the Lead Producer stated that the console did not limit them and that the Xbox Series S is an excellent market product.

The Lead Producer was asked about the possibility of the Xbox Series S holding the generation back. He replied,

“NO, WHY WOULD IT? WE’RE NOT FORCED TO MAKE THE SERIES X VERSION LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THE SERIES S, SO WE’RE NOT LIMITED AS DEVELOPERS”.

Glad to see more and more developers speaking out on their successes with the next gen Xbox Series S. What say you Xbox Series S owners? Have you been happy with your Series S and the new games that have come out on it? If I had a needs for a Series S, I surely would have bought one by now, but my Series X is enough so I haven't had a chance experience the S.

With more and more developers praising the Xbox Series S, and a new holiday $50 price discount, do you think they will move some boat loads of Xbox Series S consoles this holiday?

Unreal Engine 4 is an extremely scalable engine, I hope devs don't move onto the UE 5 engine too quickly.

Hellblade 2......

Obviously when they include some very demanding UE 5 features in Hellblade 2 they'll have to scale that down to Xbox Series S too.

Somewhat, PC games are already splitting their requirements between PC's with SSD and PC's with HDD.

If you're fine with gaming at 30fps and below, you can stick with an HDD.

True. I will just stick with my PS5/XSX and accept what they give me :)

This cannot be true.

We have to ignore the fact it's been happening on PC for years and discredit the Series S. Its the law of this forum.

I agree, devs not working on PS5 or X why should they aim for same next gen graphics and performance on Series S.

So silly to think these last gen boxes like Series S hinders performance when they also releasing the game on PS4, Xbone and Switch with its own optimization.

Luckily Evil Dead devs acknowledges that Series S is weak, not forced to make same quality as PS5 ver and their game is also releasing on Switch.

@kvallyx: Which is great looking games at great framerates.

I only played very little God of War Ragnarok, but the game looks fantastic and runs at 80-90fps on PS5, that's just great.

There are unoptimized games mind, like that recent Gotham Knights game.

I'm happy with mine. It's a great console. And the build quality is a lot better than most previous gens.

The sentence in bold is important. If it is for you, then the Series S is designed for you, it's aimed at you and I think the people it is aimed at will be very happy with it.

But if it isn't for you, that's great too. Those people have the Series X or a PS5. Everyone is happy and there is no reason things only have to be done one way. Choice is not a bad thing.

I think it’s a very great and affordable way to enjoy current gen gaming myself. They’re currently on sale at my local Walmart for $310 CAD. Comparatively the XSX is $600. If I didn’t have such a large physical collection of games I probably would have grabbed an XSS.

Your topic mention series S didnt hold back X. It didnt as game releases on PS4/Xbone too.

No switch ver sorry I got confused with Evil Dead which released earlier in the year.

Not sure why the S struggles to hit 1080p in certain games when the PS4 can hit it on GOW and maintain 30fps. The S should be way more powerful than last gen consoles and those don't seem to be holding back games this gen.

Well this doesn't fit with the cow narrative, neither does the simple fact the series s has a shit load more 120 FPS games than ps5.

Desperate times for Sony saps mean desperate measure's

The claim is that it is shit and has no business being included in this generation of consoles. 1080p/30fps in 2022 for a game that is not even pushing boundaries....

@BassMan: Hey, if somebody’s happy with a potato pc playing 720p because that’s what their budget is, I feel the same way about somebody who gets a series S…doesn’t affect me; because THAT was the claim - that the series S doesn’t hold back what devs want to do on other platforms.

But the Series X only achieves 60fps at 1080p itself. Not a ringing endorsement of "teh powah".

GoW is a PS4 game first. Current gen games are not Series S games first.

Yep! Check this veeer specific quote and it's very funny in the end.

https://www-xboxdynasty-de.translate.goog/news/evil-west/lead-producer-die-xbox-series-s-haelt-uns-nicht-zurueck/?_x_tr_sl=de&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp

The developers of Evil West asked themselves some questions in an interview with XboxDynasty.de. We also asked why the Xbox Series S does not deliver 60fps and the answer was prompt:

Tomek Gop, Lead Producer at Flying Wild Hog, said in an interview with XboxDynasty.de: "The answer is as simple as this: We tried everything, but we couldn't guarantee 60 fps 100%. It would sometimes fall below that, which I think is worse for the experience than a stable 30fps.”

Evil West devs say Xbox Series S isn’t holding them back. Then says they “tried everything” to get game to stable 60fps on Series S but it wouldn’t work so it’s 30fps 1080p. If you want 60fps & can’t get it, that sounds like it’s holding you back. LOL

@mowgly1: thats dumb, even the series X is running at 1080p...they obviously should have scaled the game graphics down. Nowadays, console gamers won't accept anything less than 60fps, and 1080p is bare minimum. So if they want to sell games to console gamers, they better make their games properly. They can try and sell to PC gamers but they should realize that its console gamers who butter their bread.

The PS4 Pro and Xbox One X are being held back by the PS4 and Xbox One though. Which are sadly holding back the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 :(
