@musicalmac: Did you play Knights of the Old Republic on your iPhone or iPad? I was curious how it played on iPhone; I thought it was only available for iPad so I haven't really done research on how it plays.

KotoR plays well. I have a 4S. The framerate can drag a bit at points, and it can be a tad glitchy with the sound dropping out. It's also difficult to play as screen real-estate becomes an issue in large battles. I've decided to wait until I get the iPhone 6 with its bigger screen to bother. A good port and workable on the phone, but I'd imagine much better on the pad.

The tegra k1 should bring ps3/360 level power to cell phones this year. Like it or not mobile gaming is the future. You also have Sony with it's ps now streaming service rumour has it priced at 50 beans per year. It's only a matter of time before a ps3/360 emulator comes out and handhelds will be dead.

You will be walking around with a ps3 in your pocket. How can you not be pumped about that.

I would rather have a 3DS or a Vita.

Most definitions of a videogame involve the idea of it being designed to entertain, so indeed most mobile 'games' are not actual games but scams. Scams because they are way more nefarious than say a casino. They are not a form of gambling machines as they are maybe ten times as intricately designed. They make you invested, entice you to learn and dig in and spend time and some coin to then milk you some more with unforeseen pay-walls and calculated unbalanced play until you are paying to stop playing. There is more effort put into these games to deceive you than most sms scams or phishing sites. I think the term scam is a fair term for 90% of the mobile games.

Now look at EA, Activision, Microsoft. Mobile gaming and top publisher games are slowly becoming one and the same in mindset, with some exceptions luckily. F2P things in AAA full price titles, focussed on attracting the uninvolved masses with buzzwords and marketing budgets in the place of substance. We will have to get used to the idea that the games with the biggest budgets and most marketing and media exposure are not the games you should be looking at. Kinda the same as with the movie industry. If you look a little beyond the big praised titles you will find movies that are a couple silent steps ahead of the mainstream herd, if only for doing actual interesting and impressive things other than putting all the good bits in the 3 minute trailer.

95% mobile games out there is a joke,

Hate to say it but I agree, it seems a good 9 out of 10 mobile games are really terrible and the ones that are good, aren't really that good.

Why you have a cell phone that does it all??

It's getting to the point of what can't you do with your cell phone.

It's games would not be as good. Also, I like having thumbsticks and buttons.

There is a reason why companies like Square-Enix love it so much and not to mention that many say that there is more money to be made in mobile gaming than anywhere else.

True. F2P mobile gaming is hugely profitable. For example, Finnish mobile developer Supercell made over $800 million last year, a majority of which came from Clash of Clans. Meanwhile, Japanese mobile developer GungHo's Puzzle & Dragons grossed nearly $1.5 billion last year... for an expensive AAA game to make that kind of revenue, you'd need to sell 25 million units at $60 each (which only GTA V managed last year, after costing $265 million and five years of effort).

In other words, it's no surprise that AAA companies now want a piece of the mobile gaming pie. And nowhere is this more prevalent than in Japan, where mobile companies like GungHo, DeNa and GREE are now bigger than traditional AAA companies like Capcom, Konami, and Square Enix, in a way forcing those companies to enter the mobile market to make up for it.
