Epic offered Sony 200M for first party exclusives * More movie trash coming to PC

According to some leaked documents, Epic has offered Sony $200 million for bringing 4-6 first-party games to the PC. Sony has not rejected this offering and Epic Games is currently awaiting its response.

So yeah, most probably, first party Sony exclusives coming to PC. I would rather invest those 200M in some indie companies to bring some new big budget exclusives to PC though.

Crazy amount to pay, and honestly haven’t most people who really want to, already played the few ps exclusive that are must play?? Seems like a giant waste of money instead of developing some new games... but what do I know...

Interesting that Epic considers Game Pass to be a competitor, and that Phil Spencer is in contact with Gaben. I don't want to speculate too wildly, but it could mean something.

As Sony games going to EGS, meh. I have nothing personally against EGS - they just annoy me a little - so good luck to them.

Besides, there is only one Sony game I really care about. And yeah, that game going EGS exclusive would definitely make me reactivate my account and buy it off the EGS, along with its previous instalment (I like keeping the same franchise in the same launcher). I'd probably even post screenshots of me doing so on this forum captioned "F*** you" repeatedly.

to my knowledge, Xbox Game Studios titles are only on Microsoft Store and Steam..

I'm fine with Sony games on PC, but Epic can just do one. Other than moneyhatting, their storefront is still a sad sight to behold... Still no shopping cart.

Sony first party is top notch. I know more ports are planned but if all most of you PC players do is complain about them, then I hope you never get them on your platform.

Who's complaining about the games? Most just don't like the Epic store. Only people I ever see complain about Sony games going to PC are Sony fanboys.

Thats what I would do if I was Epic too. Heck they should invest in having some Unreal Engine 5 games as killer apps for the
Epic Store. Maybe start back up Unreal Tournament 4 but develop it further on UE5

Well, as a filthy lemming, glad Sony didn't bite, frankly the idea of a Sony-Epic partnership worries me and I have written about it before. Both are big in seeking platform exclusive deals, if they combine their leverage, they could lock down PS4/PS5 and EGS on PC game deals and keep games away from competing platforms longer. And yeah, giving EGS exclusive PC access to Sony IPs, could be very beneficial to Sony, but also something they can get something out of, like helping achieve stronger PC support for PS Now by having them handle local game PC downloads for PS Now content on PC, as a caveat to the arrangement.

@ivangrozny: Have we ever actually talked before? Movie games are the FMV games of the 90's. They were on Sega CD, 3DO, PS1 and PC before they died off. Saying narrative driven games are merely "movie games" is factually incorrect.

Of course, not many seem to give a crap about facts in the modern age.

Because they hate Epic. I honestly don't get why store fronts annoy them. I could see being annoyed if it were locked to a specific hardware or something, but it's literally a download. lol.

Maybe. I started with a different account in 2006 myself. I caught the times when even jackscepticeye was on this forum. I do remember you as a diehard Sony fan who gets easily baited into verbal fights. I usually do not get into actual arguments. Myself I am here just for game news and laughs. I do not take this forum of men-children very seriously honestly. We are all just a bunch of nerds.

You do not need to lecture me for gaming history, I lived those times. I know FMV was very cool back then. I owned Sega, and 3do was my dream console. Though I discovered PC gaming in 1996, it blew my mind and never looked back. Lan parties, Warcraft 2, C&C Red Alert, Half Life, Master of Orion 2, Fallout, etc etc. But in my 30s I got into retro gaming and rediscovered all ps1 and ps2 exclusives that I did miss.

I own a ps3, ps4, Wii, 3ds, switch and an rtx 3090 gaming pc. And I think I will not be getting PS5 this gen. It just too many games and one needs several lifetimes to play them all.

Sony exclusives suck nowadays though. Flashy graphics and little substance. I just play JRPGs and visual novels for narratives, some retro games for gameplay and 4x turn based strategies on PC to strain my brain 🤷‍♂️

@ivangrozny: I can agree most don't have time to play everything. I enjoy most the Playstation exclusives so I continue to buy Playstation systems. You're right that in my earlier days here on these forums (PS2 - early PS3 days) I would get overly pissed for no good reason. I can appreciate your background in gaming. Enjoy your platform of choice.

@Telekill: you too. Try to get physical copies. Physical media will probably kick the bucket this gen. Once it does, physical copies of even relatively modern games will jump in price on Ebay. Hell even PS3 jrpgs are already hard to get nowadays since they are no longer manufactured. Because of digital growth, physical copies are being sold in limited quantities which will drive their prices higher and sooner than usual compared to previous generations.

Kinda wish they spent that money on Bandai Namco Studios tbh. Only games that i'd give a shit about regarding EGS exclusive Sony games would be the Spider-Man games and a Twisted Metal port.
