EA wants origin on next gen platforms

EA wants Origin to just not be a gaming hub on the PC, but on all next gen consoles which includes the WiiU,Xbox720 and PS4.

As long as it doesn't have any of the things that have caused probems on the PC version of origin I'm fine with it.

I don't want this to happen to the next consoles. Not having to deal with DRM like this is one of the reasons why I swtiched exclusively to console for gaming. I might as will go back to PC gaming, not buy any of the next consoles, and enjoy the better graphics and smoother frame rates that a good PC provides if I'm going to have to deal with crap like this on the next consoles. Also I can imagine console gamers not wanting to create accounts with publishers in order to play games. I also want the ability to sell my console games when I'm finish beating them or just get bored of them and this can't happen when a console game is tied up to a user's account.

I wouldn't care if EA did manage to put Origins on consoles because I stopped buying their games a long time ago and planning to continue of not buying their garbage games.

I hate Origin, its Steam without the friendly interface and with a horrible, horrible, horrible downloader that loves to reset itself.

The DRM is more friendly (I can play BF3 single player without having to be online to start Origin first), but otherwise Steam just poops on it. PSN and XBL are also preferable services, though I guess if they can get more developers and not do stupid things to show how inferior they are to Steam (like telling us they won't give us amazing deals like Steam Sales because it "cheapens games"), then I can stop being so negative on it.

Will NEVER happen. It's the whole reason for the existance of consoles. They need the licensing fees on games to make up the metric billions of money they lose on susidizing the hardware.

It would be like Apple allowing some other company to open an app store on the iPhone. Over Microsoft's/Nintendo's/Sony's dead, lifeless corpse.

The PC, the only open platform, is the ONLY place where that cna happen, and even there it might nto always be true. It looks like with windows 8 MS is trying to lock down it's own app store. It wouldn't surprise me if windows 9 will compeltley force people to buy apps and games through microsoft (at least on some hardware).

I doubt it, even Apple lets consumers download programs outside of the Mac App Store. Windows RT (the ARM version) does require that you only download apps through the MS Store, but RT is designed to go against the iPad and it's closed nature as well.

Theres always room for innovation. Customers are smart at picking out whose a me too and who is innovating. What happens with the me toos is that they dont have the creative minds to differentiate themselves and they tend not to last in the long run.David DeMartini

The response here just baffles me. A console that actually allowed 3rd parties to sell software digitally would only be a good thing. I guess you guys just like getting gouged for games and DLC on PSN and Xbox Live?PurpleMan5000
