E3 2019: Nintendo Direct

And last and certainly not least of the pre-E3 shows, we have Nintendo. The venerable old masters of Japanese video gaming. A company I've repeatedly called "Gaming's Mad Scientists." Nintendo are so mad they made players install a phone app to voice chat. Nintendo are so mad they disabled online co-op in Mario Maker 2, because it has leaderboards. Nintendo are so mad they would rather drip-feed the eShop with old games nobody asked for instead of rolling in easy money. "They called us mad! Mad, they say! We'll show them with a string of baffling anti-consumer decisions, and then we'll see who's truly mad! Muahahahaha!!!"

For the first time since 2004, Nintendo will head into E3 without their now former President of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime. His body was ready... ...to go lie on a beach. His successor, Doug Bowser, is already a fountain of a thousand memes by virtue of his name alone. This is a new era for Nintendo. Stakes are high. Will we see new hardware? Will we see new games? Will we finally get Mother 3 in the West? We're about to find out.

Really looking forward to this Nintendo Direct for sure. Expecting a lot of quality games to be shown. It won’t be the same without Reggie but I’m looking forward to seeing how Doug Bowser does.

If it's not releasing in 2019 I doubt they will show anything. They said this Direct is for 2019 games only.

Oh I don't expect their next game until at least 2021. I think they started development last year and they're still hiring for more.

Not early at all. Xenoblade X came out in 2015 and 2017 they showed off Xenoblade 2 in a direct and came out at the end of 2017. So yeah, I'm expecting a teaser trailer and most likely the game will come out next year.

Hoping Animal Crossing looks amazing and releases this year. And a few surprise announcements would be nice after the rest of E3 had absolutely none.

No. Nintendo has repeatedly squashed any rumors of new hardware. It's all about the games right now.
