IPTV basically. Cable television is getting killed by all these services (hulu, Netflix, amazon, and now the 360)ninjapirate2000I see, thanks. Can't say I'm interested.
So lets see sony keep offering games and exclusives and Ms gives a TV show? great! GOTY!

It's nothing that interests me, but MS do know what they're doing. Their system is growing year over year at three times the rate of the PS3. So Diamond may not appeal to you or I, but MS are doing really well for a system that's six years old.
I wouldn't be surprised if they announced this Diamond thing at E3 and really push this entertainment lifestyIe forward. But really, that is what mainstream consumers want and that is what MS is giving them. Sony might be more inclined right now towards traditional gamers which certainly makes them a bit more appealing. But I don't think MS gives a crap about GotY when they're tapping into a market that even Nintendo has failed to reach. It's very possible that with the 360, MS will surpass the Wii and PS3 without having to release another new console for quite a few years.
I have a feeling that it'll cost $100 a year for xbl diamond.ninjapirate2000
Considering a decent cable package will run you at least $60 a month, that doesn't sound like such a bad deal for an all-in-one Netflix+Hulu+XBL+VOIP (Skype)+IPTV service. Hell, if they can get premium channels like HBO and AMC on board, $100 a *month* would be reasonable.
Can't say I really care. Nothing wrong with this but if this is going to be the focus of E3 for them well that's just a big fail in my eyes. So basically the entertainment focus, Kinect, Modern Warfare 3 focus and exclusive dlc. That's what I expect. Just getting a bad vibe from all of this but I hope they prove me wrong. The games.... Bring out the games and don't spend three quarters of your time about how you've become an all-in-one entertainment beast.
Instead of announcing Xbox Live Diamond they should've just said "Core gamers we thank you for your money and where you got us. But **** off now. Kthxbye."
[QUOTE="lbjkurono23"]What does this one offer over gold?JohnF111Read the damn article and you'll find out... read the damn thread and you'll know I'm aware of what it offers...
Skipping ranks I see, next E3 they'll announce XBL Grand Master's.
EDIT(after reading...): That's... a little interesting, a little competition to the cable company... nice, nice.
[QUOTE="lbjkurono23"]What does this one offer over gold?JohnF111Read the damn article and you'll find out... Hahaha, harsh but so true.
Agreed. They are focusing on everything but games. The only game they care about is call of dutyCan't say I really care. Exactly. Plus PS3 owners doesn't exactly play exclusives, they play multiplats &/or Blu-Ray movies. ;)
I'll be first in line, if they have all the channels I watch. I pretty much only use netflix now as it is, would love to drop my cable plan if I can get local channels and what not through xbox live. Paying $50 a month for cable TV I hardly ever watch is a huge waste.
Sounds awesome. I'm not afraid of how much it will cost honestly. I can see them simply making Diamond cost $60-$75 a year, and putting all Gold features into Diamond, giving all Gold subscribers a free first 3-6 months of diamond, and basically taking away Gold and making it only Silver (no online, no TV service, etc) and Diamond (with everything gold had and more)
One big reason this will fail. HBO is huge. Time Warner owns HBO. Time Warner won't let Microsoft have HBO for this service.Merex760
Most people don't have HBO. If Diamond offers television for a fraction of the cost the cable companies do it could be huge.

It really sucks for us gamers, though. What's the point of them harvesting new features for their system when they are neglecting the ones that gave the damn thing purpose to begin with? I understand what they are trying to do and agree that its clever of them, but it sure isn't that great for the people who bought it just to play games.great.... except the eu will not get this cable tv feature like every other features ms have brought out for this damn console

Microsoft offer something for a fraction of the cost ? i dont think soCable costs $50+ per month and some people pay $100+ per month. I highly doubt Diamond is gonna cost more than $100 per month despite MS being behind it.

I doubt it, unless it doesn't offer very much in the way of content.
Cable TV is very expensive, which is one of the reasons I cancelled ours. MS could charge quite a bit and still be under cutting the competition.
Sign me up. This is great. I won't pay Time Warner for their garbage service. Unfortunately I have to use them for a ISP since there aren't many other options where I live.
That actually sounds like a cool deal!:o Man Microsoft can easily dominate next gen if they play their cards right!:P
I'll wait and see if this is true first off, then see what the service offers before I decide. However if the service is similar to u-verse, or allows you to pick and choose your cable channels I'm in. Anything to send Time Warner packing.
I pay way more than $100 a year in cable bills now, so $100 for cable channels sounds like a deal.
If it were similar to PSN+ then it would be pretty cool. Such as including discounts on content. Nah, that's where Xbox Live Sapphire'll come in.
Forget Diamond, Netflix, Hulu and blah.
If I want to watch TV I'd just WATCH TV!

Good for those who want it, if it's priced reasonably I guess.

[QUOTE="coasterguy65"][QUOTE="SPBoss"]Is a RROD included?SPBoss
Does PSN+ include a YLoD?
whats a ylod? You Lose or Die? yellow light of death which is the name of the general fault error the ps3 puts out and if its to be believed was at 11% of all systems sold at one point. *But only if you also believe the 54% failure rate of the 360* PS plus offers an extended warranty program but you have to pay extra. Please Log In to post.
