Dreams, the latest Media Molecule game, is about to land (14th February). For us, beta and early access participants, it won't be a surprise that Dreams will be a critical success, but too many skepticals and haters seem to think (hope?!) otherwise.

Well, review embargo is about to lift, but we already got the first one:

People will be able to make awesome creative games even if they can't program.

I won't be making games but I hope the community prosper.

Totally admire the vision that allows people's imagination to run riot....unfortunately 99% of gamers wont be bothered to read the manuals, and without that Dreams is useless apart from playing community games.

I never had patience to learn programming, but have had a blast with Dreams tools. It does require dedication to make something really impressive, but it's still the easiest you will find in the industry. On the top of that, the creating tools are really fun to use.

Aye, history has shown time and time again that very few people can enjoy a game and make use of all it offers without handholding, especially games of a sandbox nature.

I expect player reviews to be low

I would agree with your sarcasm, if i haven't already been experiencing Dreams for a year. I couldn't care less for Playstation (or any other brand), and i couldn't agree more with that score.

I think Dreams is going to need word of mouth to gain any traction from what I played so far in Early Access. I'm not sure if trailers, adverting, or reviews such as this are going to catch the attention (and understanding) of the mainstream casual consumers. Even as someone who has little interest in creating content myself, I recognize Dreams can have extraordinary potential and near limitless content. It all just depends on how well it is adopted and implemented by others in the gaming community/industry. That's putting a lot of conviction in the output of random people though.

If that happens though, I can see the casual consumer getting drawn into it by the appeal of some specific exceptional content made on it, and/or the prospect of a wild amount of variety that can satisfy any sort of gaming mood.

@pc_rocks: I don't expect haters to change their minds. They will support their point no matter how many positive scores it gets. That's the nature of haters and fanboys, after all :p

I'm just glad to see critics giving this game the credit it deserves :)

What is it? Looks like a kid game to me. I tried Ori and it scored good and I thought it sucked. Maybe that is why I don't get the Switch, kids games.

I think that it should be packaged with the PS5. Get it into as many people's hands as possible, and that will only increase the number of people who want to develop content.

I've played the early access for a few months. There's an impressive amount of content considering that status, and it's really enjoyable to browse and to view recommendations on YouTube. A lot of potential for this to thrive , if it catches on.

Lol.

Anyway, even if it scores well, it's not going to sell well. Sony needs to put it on PC or even Switch.

@patriotplayer90: I have been saying that for a while. It would be fantastic if Dreams was part of PS4/PS5 user interface. Every PS owner would have access to it.

Other idea, one that is not out of Mm plans, is a PC port.

I don't really know what to think of Dreams... will I buy it? Probably.. lol. I think it could be really cool, but you will have to wade knee deep through shit to find the things that are fun to play. I'm sure there will be a Mario Maker type of system where you can play the top rated things, but the vast majority of the times those are just levels that are submitted by people with huge social media followings that get upvoted.. because.

I am the type of person who would rather play all the ones that have never been played before for the laughs or the unexpected fun game. I just hope it doesn't turn out like a lot of other games where you can make a level or add whatever you want.. I think it has potential, but that is limited to the creative vision of the community.

@WitIsWisdom: There are all kinds of filters, from Mm picks, to most liked of the week, month, etc..

There were hundreds of thousands of projects released in the early access. Lots of bad stuff of course, but also many gems already. The community already proved to be very talented.

I will check it out at some point. I have an understanding of a few programming languages and have made small games in both Unity and Unreal, but the ease that Dreams allows creative content to be made is a much easier alternative. I really hope the game flourishes.

I don't hate it. Have no reason to. Actually I don't even care about it. Just pointing out the irony and the the extreme hyperbole of the quote. Having quotes like this and the blatant false/misleading marketing push people to hate it as it's factually incorrect.

And there are many PC only sites.

How many sites are owned by PC? Oh wait, no one owns PC, it's an open platform but Sony does own multiple publications and those publications almost always award Sony games higher scores so much so that OPM at one point awarded a sh*t like KZ:SF 9.5 and then later retract it. On the other hand many PC only sites are far more critical of PC games.

But we already know this and has been discussed multiple times. As I said you cows like to ignore everything and keep repeating your lies over and over again in hopes that people will just give up and accept those.

Lastly, feel free to remove those platform specific sites, by all means do. But be assured that many of your precious exclusives will lose their 90 on meta if applied the same standard while PC games wouldn't be affected that much.

Sweet, gunna have to check it out. Strange I didn't care until now... most of the time I would have been in day one with something like this. Guess I've been disappointed one too many times though.

It seems weird to launch this in the dying months of the PS4.

Unless they make a PS5 port pretty quickly, this game won't have a player base.

I mean, it's not like there aren't 108 million PS4s in the wild to play games on already. And if PS5 is truly b/c... I would say no port needed.

Also, if Sony wants to sell people on this thing, they should have some of their in-houses contribute small games for this project every now and again.

I'm not really interested in using a controller to develop games. You might as well download a real engine and not let your work be tied to one platform. Hell, if the game dies and Sony pulls the severs which they being doing a lot lately. All your hard work is gone.

I wish MM the best because if this game tanks I know Sony is going to close them.

It is a 9.1 now but that is still phenomenal.

Meh like project spark, Mario maker, roblox, and LBP. There will be a few solid things on it the rest will be a sea of shit
