The exclusive no one cares about, got its first review:

https://www.gameinformer.com/review/dreams/bringing-your-imagination-to-life?fbclid=IwAR1z1ush8lXvkz3GPSYfxPZNtyRAwCvL3fQbAYANqF9J9Nvu_jAdmjV-ewY

Good to see so much praise in this early access version already, especially since many people have yet to realise the impact Dreams will have in this industry.

@SecretPolice: Mm paid gameinformer to not give Dreams a 10/10. Sometimes reality can be too suspicious :p

Dreams is going to flop no matter how much positive praise the game receives. Blame the market.

Dreams is a niche game it won't sell as well as other Sony exclusives.

@Pedro: Why would you say that? I don't expect it to reach the numbers of other exclusives, but i can see it being having a positive reception.

I been reading several reviews for Dream, all seem positive for a world creation game, I spend lots of time with Minecraft for the past years, it kinda drain my imagination when it comes to these types of games and really, Dreams is what Little Big Planet 3 should have been.

I'm quite certain this program is made with PS5 in mind, so there is probably a lot of bells and whistles that are kept under wraps for now. In the long term with the potential of PS5 BC and PSVR support, Dreams could be the next Minecraft big thing.

Question, buying it in "Early Access" will get you the full release but at the early price?

Dreams was never a heavyweight PS4 exclusive to begin with. In other words, every PS4 owner knew what Dreams is all about and not every gamer isn't into imagination creating stuff.

True, Dreams will be an on-going game, mostly designed with the compatibility between PS4 and PS5 in mind. So yeah, the possibilities are already immense, but it's easy to reach the thermo limits in the current PS4 version. Of course you can have a terrible looking glitchy dream using 95% of the thermo, and an incredible one using just 50%. There are a ton of ways to optimize and polish projects...but honestly that's part of the fun :P

and yes, early access gives you direct access to the full game. Makes sense though, since part of the content at launch will be community created stuff.

@davillain- I understand what you are saying however, some folks on this forum believes that this "game" is going to revolutionize gaming and is going to be mega hit for Sony. I don't see that transpiring at all.

Time and time again the market has shown that most gamers don't want to make games but play them. I don't see this trend changing anytime soon. This is made worse when the game that anyone spends time making in this "game" is hardware locked. That time can be better spent with alternative solutions that are more flexible and platform independent.

@Pedro: Not a big hit like say...a GoW or an Uncharted, for obvious reasons, but it does have a chance to revolutionize the console market. What's unique about it is not the fact you can create things, there are tons of apps and programs for that. What makes it special is how fun and easy it is to put out something fairily polished and good looking. The fact you can jump from game creation, to music creation, to play projects, then back to character modeling or animation, etc all running in real time in background (no loadings), is also pretty impressive.

I agree that being an exclusive of a single platform may castrate it popularity, but at least it's an exclusive of a console that has 100 million users. I think it will do good, but not as great as it would deserve.

Minecraft success was its amazingly simple concept and execution. This game is for the nichest of the niche market. LBP success was most driven by it unique gameplay experience and not so much the content creation.

That's new to me. Never saw it as a revolutionary, just another Little Big Planet on steroids. While Dreams is an Early Access, Early Access are a hit or a miss and how will Dreams do? We can only wait and see.

Edit: @PAL360 Good to know about I'll get the full game from Early Access. I'll buy it now and fiddle with Dreams later this weekend.

This is why I believe they should port the game to PC and have it be a PS4/PC game that is interoperable.

@Pedro: Sure, i agree, but you shouldn't expect the worse just because things don't go through what you think it's optimal.

Again, being exclusive will limit its popularity for sure, but at least it's exclusive to a popular system

I bought it last night and have yet to try it out. Good to see it’s getting very positive reception. It was only $30 too and so I couldn’t pass up the sweet deal.

I am not thinking of the worse. It may be viewed as the worse when compared to the unrealistic expectations that a few have but I believe my flop claim is just going to be reality. It may also be the reason why Sony isn't hyping this game because they know their userbase but they are still willing to invest in projects like this.

So....is Dreams an actual game? Y'know, the kind you play? Or is it basically a game creation engine?

@Pedro: But you are still acting like if Dreams was a complex game engine, when it's the opposite of that. Unlike in 'serious' programs, here the creating tools are fun to use, and you see results very quickly.

The fact over 100k projects were published in the beta alone, could be a good indicator. All made by console users, and most, i believe, from unexperienced people (i'm actually an example of that).

I might just make the jump on faith concerning PSVR on this one. I'll let you know how it goes lol. :) But, then again, it could be a while until enough people start making good user-created content. We'll just have to wait and see. I do know that a ton of PSVR fans, going by reddit, are looking forward to jumping in early on.

To be fair, this is one game where scores really, really don't matter (not that I care about scores outside of SW fun). The only thing that is going to matter with Dreams is how big the community is, and how active that community is. And, of course, talented people creating content. It's going to take time.

Then they'll play the Dreams' (gonna be small) community's "games".. won't have much impact on the gaming industry though. At least I don't think there's a good chance.

At best maybe at the heels of garry's mod?

@i_p_daily: So 'i have a boner' for Dreams because made a thread about it and think it has a huge potential? Buddy, people do that here every minute about the most banal games lol And no offence, but who are you to decide what other people want to play?

I do think Dreams will be important to this industry, but i DON'T think it will be a huge success. That's exactly the reason why i gave relevance to this game informer review.

By the way, The Guardian just called it a 'genuine revolution' ;)
