Poll DOOM VS Brutal Doom (12 votes)

Brutal Doom is still better 50%
DOOM is better 50%

In your opinion, which is these is the most+?

DOOM was influenced by Brutal Doom, but having played both, it still doesn't match the quick, unmitigated visceral explosion of violent guttural gratification Brutal Doom provides.

Unrelated - If you like Doom check out Butcher, it's the shit.

I voted before reading. I thought it was original DOOM (1993) vs. Brutal DOOM, and voted DOOM, as I'll always have the softer spot for the original.

But Brutal DOOM > DOOM 2016. I find DOOM (1993) to be a better game than DOOM (2016). I could explain why, but gotta go back to work..

Doom Reboot is easily better. Brutal Doom is just modernize PC version of Doom 1993 with free mouse look.

Graphics and story also matters for me so Doom is better.

thanks to fan who made brutal Doom and it inspired id software to cancelled Doom 4 and made Doom remake. otherwise we would have gotten Doom 4 during last gen which was call of doom.

Maybe it's my imagination. But, the Doom marine in Brutal Doom seems a tad overpowered, especially with the Bulletstorm-like boot moves. The vanilla Doom marine was more limited and also more appropriate. The only improvement I'd add to the default is mouse-look which the vanilla game didn't have.

Must be, it's more difficult than the vanilla game.

I don't like the way that Doom Guy has turned into an edgy boy that is being impressed by Kano and Sub Zero Fatalities in Mortal Kombat.

The Doom Guy in Doom 1&2&3 acted more like a human being compared to this edgy Doom guy.

No he didn't lol

Not that he had really "any" personality to begin with. Himself, Duke3D, Low Wang and Caleb are amalgamations of Ash from Evil Dead, Cool guy shoots monsters, with a mix of both deadly serious and black comedy.

Doom guy in Doom Reboot is not same Doom Guy. He is Doom Slayer, an ancient warrior.

similarly marine in Doom 3 was some different guy.

Ash is an ancient warrior of legend, he goes into a self-prophesying time loop lol

Along with aliens it's the most influential movie on the medium.

As much as I love DOOM 2016.....

  • I think they focused on the segments where they lock you in an area too much.
  • Level design is top-notch, but I still prefer the original Doom levels better.

Yep, the map design is better than most modern FPS which involve walking in a straight line but it still feels like a bunch of boxed rooms than the intricacy of the original games.

they took it from painkiller. and thats the weakest element in game.

lets hope Eternal will fix it. plus having set on earth means wider design.
