Now that's a good hype thread Ghost. I'll give Doom: Eternal a 9/10 and not sure I'll pick it up day one but I do like what I have seen so far.

the demon AI is amazing and dynamic on nightmare difficulty. much better than most 20 year olds players in MP games.

Enjoyed the Doom 2016 and everything that I’ve seen on this game looks excellent so I’m really looking forward to getting it. It won’t be on day one but it won’t be too long after that, probably within a week or two. I think that it’ll probably get a 9/10.

It will have too much content for it's own good, where, very much like an Ubisoft game, it gets boring long before you reach the finishing the line.

Halflife: Alyx pacing will be vastly superior, without question.

Overall, i'll say it will get over-scored at about a 9, but probably make a high 80% metacritic score, compared to Alyx 96%.

That robot angel thing sounds like Asajj Ventress.

Anyway oddly enough I'm actually really looking forward to the lore being expanded, seems like they're going all-in on story this time.

Of course, I'm mostly looking forward to the gameplay. Doom 2016 was really awesome and by all accounts Doom Eternal seems like an improvement.

9/10, Looks really good and more than anything it seems the developers had fun making it.

I'm more excited to see Polygon play it than play the game, and i'm very excited for the game myself.

Funny enough I'm more excited to see what Half Alyx review will be and I'm getting Doom Eternal.

Yea, it's more of a gamble where more things could potentially go wrong. By default, we know before it's even released it's going to get review bombed and we've seen the seething salt well before release.

Doom seems safer and therefor more predicable.

9/10 seems great without bringing anything new to the table

there has never been any game like this which is fast paced old school, combine modern elements greatly, having emphasize on platforming and climbing.

Doom 2 had something akin to platforming, while you technically didn't jump, Chasm was almost entirely based around pixel precision.

Thats not platforming. i see no climbing or pakor elements.

Climbing and "parkour" is nothing new either my freind.

Its not new but i never been done like that in old school FPS. so its innovative feature.

What I’ve seen has looked incredible. I’m going with 9/10. But for me it will be more like a 10.

Looks so fluid, varied, well paced and over the top. Love everything about it tbh. Adrenaline pumping stuff into my veins!

However, Half Life: Alyx will dominate discussion, have way more cool memes and gifs all over, win more awards and influence way more developers in the long run.

Also for the score I can see the game getting between an 8 or 9. But ether way it looks great and I can't wait to play it.

But pinky, you liked serious sam 3. and that game has only close arena.

and yeah there should be less arena lockdown. thats the thing that turn me off in painkiller/serious sam.

Im going with a 9, looks to be a major improvement over 2016. A must buy for me, the movement looks so good and will have the speed i love.

This game and halo infinite are my 2 most anticipated FPS games this year.

I liked Doom 2016 too. And Serious Sam 3 and Painkiller both have better arenas than Doom 2016

SS3 and painkiller were psedu old school, not real old school. those games doesnot have any level design or combat intensity. just bunch of waves running at you, not very interesting.

compare to something like Quake 1, those games failed.

shadow warrior 2013 was much better too in that regard.

None of Doom 2016s generic factory, Mars or hell arenas compare to any of Painkillers levels, especially levels like Loony Park, Orphanage, Asylum, or Stalingrad. I'm convinced you've played neither Serious Sam 3 or Painkiller.

And Quake 1 is complete garbage. I'll never understand the appeal of that game.

Of course I played both of them but i was so bored that i never complete them. they are repetetive mess. Doom 2016 has FEAR tier gunplay while SS3 weapons are not fun to shoot. with pointless ironsight.

and lol pinky, Quake 1 was masterpiece. and was only real Quake game. and not MP crap later series has become and lost identity.

Jesus, Joe Rogan is usually pretty chill with his random jibba-jabba waste two hours of your life, but he kind of comes across as abit of a dick to that Doom dev.

Yeah I kind of agree. Also he talks way too much of only Quake 1 and Quake Champions and not other id Software games. Still I find the interview very enjoyable. Since he also talked to John Carmack before, I wonder if he will interview John Romero one day.

Get the impression Joe was purposefully not trying to come across as a shill trying abit, too hard. Since his show obviously gets millions of views and acts as automatic advertisement. Who knows.

But yea, still enjoyable. It feels authentic, even if he's coming across as a prick.
