30FPS and 540P in portable mode. I wonder if this will be 60FPS in docked mode. Doubt it.

Nothing more then a cash grab.... strip a game back so much it stops being that game and this is a perfect example.

I dont think gory games like Doom can work on nintendo. most of nintendo audience are kids and they prefer to play mario/zelda.

Yep. That sounds about right. I'd still like to try this game on Switch though. It will be quite novel playing a game like this during lunch at work. All the same, somewhere down the line, I'll pick up DOOM again on PC during a Steam sale.

Who in their right mind would pay $60 for such a watered down port? 30fps when every other port runs at 60fps, gtfo of here with that.

After seeing this video. I don't mind double dipping (have it for the pc) :) I bet i look awesome in handheld mode.

It makes no sense either. I know my PC would play this game beautifully. I'm a publisher's wet dream.

I wonder how wolfenstein will do , thats a more appealing title imho than Doom. Doom is already out and most already have played this which traditionally Doom were always a "pc" game if you get what i mean. Not that wolf wasnt , just saying.

Its not the resolution im not into , its ok for handheld mode i guess but 30fps ... bieeh. I wonder if there will be further graphical downgrades also ...

from a technical standpoint its brilliant. to have such a game running on the switch is quite an accomplishment. it really just shows how mobile hardware is coming along. 3 cortex A57s at around 1ghz, 3 GB of ram and a maxwell GPU with 256 cores at around 385 MHz (this seems to be undocked mode...docked wasnt available at the event as i understand it)....and it can do that. the jump from killzone mercenary on the vita is quite something. i wonder how the GPU in the switch stacks up against the best in the mobile market like the G71 MP20?

will it sell though? hopefully they dont put it out at full price. at full price, a year late and not as nice looking as other platforms is a hard sell. will enough want the portability to warrant making the port?

I wouldn't mind having it a portable version of Doom, but I don't think I could drop from 200fps to 30fps.

I would just like to point out as well, being the topic creator, that this wasn't a dig at the Switch in anyway. And, the reason why I didn't 'discuss' is because I created the topic while preparing to alight from the train.

I think this port looks pretty awesome - although I won't be buying it straight away - I'll probably be playing too much Skyrim on my Switch.

I'm in the "wait for price drop" group. It's great for portable, but it is a performance drop from console/pc where it's much cheaper than what they'll be asking.

Its not about 30FPS and 540p, in reality that would be perfectly fine in handheld mode. 30 FPS 720p would be fine for docked... can't expect anymore, still a great achievement for a portable device.

Shooters on controllers are crap... period. the Graphics/FPS mean nothing to me here... 60 FPS 1080p on PS4 or X1? couldn't give a shit.. controls are crap.

But if I had to choose... this is the kinda game I would play sparingly.... so Switch would be a better choice...

Yea they should just release it as a tech demo, with a option to get the full version if you want it for a small price.

That was a great video. I don't know what the hell some of you are talking about - I think the whole video was fair, relevant, and highlighted very clear issues with the port while also communicating why this is a strong showing on the Switch. As he noted, once the Switch is docked we have every reason to expect his analog pc to get "owned"

Cool for those wanting Doom on the go I guess, but going from 144hz, adjustable FOV, m/kb to this? Can't do it.

Former and non-Nintendo fans have been begging for it even more, ever since SEGA and Sony were in the race.

Sorry, but DOOM was made for 60 fps MINIMUM.

this is not the switch version so i wont judge it till i see the game on the switch in person. I think the gaming community cares more about specs than games these days. if it works and i can play it on the go that would be great fun and thats all that should matter.

That is pretty effing INSANE for a handheld. Far better than I actually expected.

I plan on getting the Switch but ONLY using it as a handheld. 30FPS Doom on low medium settings at 720p or 900p when docked doesn't interest me.

I said it once before and I'll say it again the Switch is AMAZING hand held system but its a POS console.

Not going to slag them off for this. I said Nintendo desperately needed the third party on board, so although this really needs to be a budget title its a worthy title for anyone with a switch.
