Poll Does Wii u need price drop? (70 votes)

No, 300 us dollars is just fine 14%
Yes, 250 us dollars 23%
Yes, 200 us dollars 30%
Yes, 150 us dollars 24%
TOO LATE!!! NINTENDO IS DOOMED !!!! 9%

Well PS4 cost is 399 us dollars and Wii U is 300 dollars. Wii U gameplay pad costs over 100 dollars which means if Wii U came without gamepad then it would cost less than 200 dollar which is same price as Wii.

So yeah, no gameplay = 200 dollar console price. Making price same high almost like PS4 with having no blu-ray, no online, very small harddrive, bad grahpics, lack of games and stuff, no wondering why Wii U is flop.

Right now Nintendo selling Wii U at price 300 us dollars and every console sold is loss. If they cut Wii U and sold at 200 dollars then they even would make some profit.

I think maybe Nintendo should put out a $250 SKU that doesn't come with a game.

They are still selling at a loss, so I am not sure how much more Nintendo can afford to drop the price when they are already losing money.

Wouldn't even buy the Wii U if it was 150 dollars.

It's just not worth it.

It's a niche market they operate in and believe it or not, they still made a profit last year from it.

I would not buy one but there are 15-20million people who will in it's lifetime.

If it's not selling well, which it isn't, then yes it needs a price drop as that means it is overpriced in the eyes of the consumer. It was priced right it would sell.

If that's the case then the Wii U is dead already. It won't sell above $200 right now and should be no more than $150 2 years from now.

It needs to be at least down to $200. At the price I would still play wait and see. Ideally it would get to $150, then I'd definitely get one.

I think people wanting it to be cheaper are being too cheap. It's $300 with a decent game (WW HD, or Mario Bros.+Luigi DLC, or Nintendo Land). That's a good deal.

For larger market appeal, yes. It's a secondary system that still lacks features considered centric to the hardcore experience.

But you think Nintendo is going to just take another one on the chin after the 3DS? They're in no rush to save face - they'll let the Wii U service its niche before they start trying to jumpstart it by gouging money.

Maybe down to $250. Going below $200 would be absolutely absurd the 4GB 360 and 12 GB PS3 are at $200. Also those begging for a bigger HD don't seem to understand that the Wii U likely can't house a HD.

I would say drop the pad, then the price drop wouldn't be so bad. It's one of their options they have to stopping the bleeding at least in the short term.

I'm expecting someone to say "something something gamepad is its bread and butter! something something".

If Nintendo could get away with selling the Wii U at 150USD, that would indeed be pretty killer.

Honestly at this point they are lucky to get to even GC levels with killer apps out.

I'm one of the ones who thought it would get at least 30-40 million LTD at the end of its life at best. It seems I was off base on the rate it's at now. If Mario couldn't do it, not much will.

Hopefully MK and SSB does something for it but I'm still not expecting too much from them aside from weekly spikes.

Remember 3DS before the price drop? Now 3DS is dominating the world.

A price drop + a great lineup of exclusives may be the only thing that's capable of saving Wii U.

As a lifelong Nintendo fan starting with the NES it's too weird to see what they have done to their image.

Long gone are the days of Nintendo being a powerhouse and I hate to see it. I do think the games are great and love my WiiU but they just aren't the same nintendo anymore.

First and formost they need to get on it with the 1st party games the fans want and not put them off. I also think they need to completely restructure their PR and start aggressively promoting the system and it's heritage.

I think if they put out the 1st party games that fans want and also team with third party devs to create games that take advantage of the system and pad in new fun ways that cater to the style of game long time Nintendo fans want they could bring their name back.

I think they need to take MS approach and dump money into 3rd party exclusives along with the Nintendo classics. Advertise themselves as catering to older gamers and to those that like Nintendo simply because the games are fun.

I think they lost a lot of what made them nintendo with the Wii. It's sold like crazy and they thought people would line up to do it again. Over the lifetime of the Wii they became lazy with promoting and being creative because it sold regardless.

They lost the spark that was Nintendo.

I think they need to go back to the drawing board and design a new system. Take the time to be sure it caters to 3rd party devs needs and promote the shit out of it. They need an image change. Let the WiiU coast a couple more years and bring back a new Nintendo. I haven't lost faith in Nintendo but have lost faith in their current mindset. It's time for them to be aggressive and creative. Build a system that competes power wise so 3rd party can develope on the system but also be the system nintendo needs to push their own games.

While I think they still make some of the best games I also think they need to get off their asses and put some passion back into their product. Be there live at E3, bring back the many franchises that people want, bring us a powerful console with a game pad that has great games and market the hell out of it. I really hate what the Wii has done to nintendo. Made them complacent.

3rd-party has never liked Nintendo from day one, that is most of their problem along with the top tier devs not taking them seriously. What are you going to play on the Wii u with a price cut?

ha ha tc , you make me laugh wiiu have no gameplay? i guess games like super mario bros u super mario 3d world pikmin 3 zelda rayman call of duty 007 legends, cod bo2 madden 13 etc dont exist in your world , or your just a blind fanboy who refuses to try games on other consoles , either way , wiiu is just fine people just need to quit griping and confusing the wii with the wiiu ,

another thing , mariokart 8 dkc5 or other games people are waiting for arent out yet once their out then you can say it needs a price drop , til than its fine

and to the one calling wiiu an outdated machine its got 2 x to 3 x more ram then xbox 360 ps3 , , a bigger disc then xbox360 , and nfs u proves wiiu is more powerful then xbox360 even cod ghost on wiiu proves this , so ya have fun

150$ would be a solid price imho for this kind of hardware and would have been super competitive .... but 300$ ... not 1 in a million .. not even 200!

I see multiplats in your list. Old multiplats.

Wii U from Nintendo themself, is not fine.

People said that about the last 8 things the Wii u did but it's still not fine. They also won't be cutting the price unless they want to take PS3 losses.

It has not yet shown the power yet, but power is not the issue, it's the games, the advertising, the relative outdatedness, the confusing message, the lack of support fro them and third-parties, and the focus on trying to have the 3DS save it like the GBA and the Gamecube, except it's not working this time. 3DS also is not pushing too hard either but it's making money at least.

It would help sales a bit, but with Nintendo heading for a third consecutive operating loss even with the Wii U at its current price, it puts them and the Wii U in a bad position. Looking at the upcoming games list, it's not looking good for this year either.

It will be interesting to see what the talk of restructure ends up meaning.

Compared to next-gen it does.

And if it has similar graphics to ps3 but a much smaller library of games, why wouldn't anyone just get a ps3?

200$ it's last gen technology, the tablet feels cheap and battery sucks, barely any online, UI is ok, and software which is only starting to get good now, not a lot of 3rd party titles.

150 dollar price tag is what it needs and to include a game for that price.

But it also needs.....

1) Better online for gamers.

2) Some original games that are actually good made by Nintendo with a shifting away from their model of shitting out the same old franchises over and over and over again.

3) A ditching of the tablet.

4) Better 3rd party support.

5) A complete interface overhaul.

Wii U needs a little bit of everything right now, price drop included.

Though these comments about removing the tablet don't seem to be well thought out at all. If they were going to do that, it should have been done before the console was finalized and released. Removing the tablet at this point would be suicide.

Yeah, but at this point in the Wii U life span you can't make a console without the tablet. There already too few games on the console, remove the ones that use the tablet and there only like 4 or 5 games left.
