I know that the Epic store is frowned upon by this community and i think i get why.

My question is if it uses any type of spyware or something similar?

I haven't bought anything on it but i *have* been downloading the free games, is there any real reason not to download the freebies?

There are a multitude of threads already, as well as actual articles across the internet. We'll just retread shit here and get locked.

Sorry I didn't know that, and I thought a specific question about it instead of "is it bad" would be okay.

Sorry bud, wasn't trying to come across as a dick. I'm hopping between my living room and kitchen lol. It's been discussed here and internet-wide for a while.

What isn't spyware? Even your Windows 10 is spying on you.

Yes, along with everything else that ask for your name and card info.

It's been reported that people using Epic become Satan's slaves, thankfully our PC brothers are very brave and after spending thousands on their PCs, are ready to wait a whole year before playing a game. Meanwhile they'll be praising lord Gabe while squeezing 240fps on DOTA.

No. It's far worse. They're forced to moderate comments for fairness on political news stories.

With "this community" you mean the entire PC community, right?

Your ISP is spying on you full stop... Being worried about game program monitoring you purchases/settings/hardware is the least of your problems.

@wickedmuffin:

My stalker once asked me if i ever read 1984.

I said, "in maybe 5th grade?"

Now she tries to do big brother irl.

On dai she goes, "oh we are being watched." She pulls up some nonsense on her phone how she tracks other peoples cell activity.

Its reminds me of some sad cult of depressed people.

Anyways, i led them all to Prnhub and guess what, they started conversing there.

L. M. F. A. O.

And now they are bitter.

It is true that Americans are very oblivious or just dont care how their info is being used. But its all useless info in the end.

Everything is spying on you, especially social media and Facebook in particular.

A few examples that happened very recently

A colleague of mine went over on his ankle while doing something daft (as drunk people tend to do) and obviously he received a lot of stick for it. Three of the people giving the guy who hurt himself a ribbing, the next day all got adverts for ankle supports on their social media, without actually posting anything about the incident, they did tell others over the phone though.

Another example was the place I've been working for the past few months has some of the most vicious seagulls I've ever encountered. Again many of the guys I work with received articles about Seagull attacks on their social media accounts.

I'm now on annual leave from work and over the past few weeks my wife and I have been discussing where we're taking the kids. Today she received a few articles about where we're going, without her posting anything about where we plan to go. Neither my wife or myself have posted anything about it online.

There's a reason why I leave my phone's mobile data off when I'm not using it and why I use a VPN, adblock and a strong firewall. I'm not paranoid (and even if I was it wouldn't mean they're not out to get me! ;) ) I just don't like being tracked and spied on so as others can make money from me. I stay well clear of Epic for the same reasons.
