Does "GOW" stand for "Gears of War" or "God of War&quot

Personally, I say that it stands for "Gears of War", but that is probably because I like that franchise better than the God of War franchise.

I figured that this question would be relevant in the coming months, as "God of War 3" is right around the corner and "Gears of War 3" probably won't be too far behind. And we need to know what people are talking about when they write "GOW3".

God of War. Gears of War is abbreviated as GeoW.

In context, its pretty easy to differentiate which game you are talking about so it could be both. However if we are gonna play the SW game it should stand for God of War since that game is older and (probably) more popular.

GOW doesn't stand for anything.

Oh, and just for some SW material, GoW is a much better franchise!

Depends on the discussion. But why don't you just use "gears" for gears of war? GeoW seems a bit pointless, gears is just one letter more and everyone knows what you mean. killerfist

I think GOW is a good franchise, but GOW is better. They're both great franchises, but overall GOW has better games. Whichis better, GOW or GOW?

God of War. There's nothing else you can abbreviate God of War to without creating even more confusion, where as with Gears you can just abbreviate to, well, Gears.

Every few months, this same question is asked, and it receives the same answer. What I don't understand, is there are worse confusers out there - like AC. Is this Ace Combat? Armored Core? Animal Crossing? Assassin's Creed? Perhaps that's why it's proper to spell out what you abreviate at least once in whatever you're writing...

God of War was released before Gears, so God of War holds the original name of GOW.

So Gears had to have a new name so its GeOW.

As far as abbreviations on this forum typically go, GOW is God of War, and GeOW is Gears of War.
