Does anybody feel that PS5 BC will be similar to XB360 to XB1 BC?

The reason is licensing and publisher permission. This is similar to Xbox 360 where developers published on that specific platform, when Microsoft introduced BC to Xbox One, they had to ask game developers and companies to add the game to the platform. I feel that PS5 BC with PS4 games will face the same situation.

nope, given how they got a free pass from fans and the gaming press in general over this, next gen they'll probably keep pushing streaming PS Now service to combat Microsoft's Game Pass service

sure, PS3 game BC was an issue but last gen they had a huge catalog o digitalf PS1/PS2 classics that most certainly could have been brought over and rights honored but they didn't, and fans didn't hold their feet to the fire over it which just exacerbated the situation until I think both Sony and the fans have bought into their own damage-control bullshit excuses

I don't even see why they would waste the tech. It does no good when you have to beg/bully every game publisher to put the game on the new platform anyway. I remember a time when games would be b/c on a new platform by default. What happened to those days?

I wouldn’t really mind that myself. I’m not interested in playing games via a streaming service.

If its strictly PS NoW im done with Playstation. Considering it will run on X86 it should be like going from a PS4 to a PS4 pro. They wont have to ask permission if it runs on the same architecture.

I buy new consoles to play new games.

It was also proven many times that less than 0.000000001% actually use BC. And when they do use it, they typically play the game for like 20 minutes and then never touch it again.

You Xbox fanboys are seriously overrating BC.

Xbox BC is free. Sony already milk their fans into paying again to play the same games they already own on their current console. Also Xbox BC enhances games free of charge too. Sony enhancements always comes with a fee, they rather remaster and sell it full price again. So no, their BC won’t be anything close to Xbox BC.

Why so this even a question? When you buy a new PC with the same architecture, do you need to worry about BC? Um no. If PS5 has the x86 architecture, it'll play the same games as PS4. It'll throttle down the ps5 to mimic a PS4. Look at the PS4 Pro or Xbox One X as prime examples of how this works. They may even do what the X is doing and have an option to enhance the game... Although some people would prefer playing it the way they played it originally so this should always be optional. It's so simple, yet people are still asking the same questions. FYI, I'm not getting rid of my PS4 Pro. And there's no reason now my digital library wouldn't carry over to ps5 if my PS4 Pro broke. Use your heads people. PSNow is like Netflix. People haven't stopped buying or renting movies because they have it. It's supplimental to what they own, if they choose to have it. I do agree that the digital PS3 games you own should be free to play on PS4 if they are on PSNow.
