I really don’t. I think the PS4 is in its prime now. We’re getting so many good games. Why announce the PS5? It will just be a distraction. Wait until you’ve gotten the most out of the system and then release it. Do you agree, SW?

Nope. Even if it comes out in 2020, I can still see myself holding off on getting it for at least another year.

Agreed. It isn't needed.
Yes in the sense I would like a newer generation console. No, that it won't come out until at least 2020.
It will be released fall 2019 or early 2020 March - May.
Watch and see, it will be teased and PSX at the end of this year and fully announced E3 2019, I am leaning toward the 2020 March - May release.
Extremely slim chance of fall 2020 but that's the latest it will come.
Either way Day 1.
Last gen hung around for far too long I would say a 7-8 year life cycle is about right. The 360/PS3 was freakish.
They wouldn't announce a PS5 this year , anyway.
To answer the question.- Yes , if holiday 2019 is soon. 6 years between gens is fine. I'm not a big specs guy either ( Affordability should win) , but I'd like to see what Guerrilla Games , Santa Monica , and company can do by moving on to bigger challenges with better hardware.Ghost of Tsushima and TLOU Part II can close down this gen in style like Sony did last gen with PS3.
It will also give Sony a big leg up in the console war (insuring massive 3rd party support , and to be price competitive)
its gonna be a huge mistake if they announce the ps5 this year. The best moment to even CONFIRM rumors should be like.... the second half of 2019
I'm good. I feel like things are hitting a fever pitch right now with PS4 to the point where I don't need a new console from them right now.
While I will very likely be getting a PS4 this year I’d be fine with a PS5 coming out in 2019 myself. I probably wouldn’t get the PS5 right away anyway so I’d use that time to get the few games that I want to play on the PS4.
No point. There won't be a big enough difference in graphics over the Pro. Any console launched even in 2020 would be 4k 60fps tops, which is nearly where we are now.
I always welcome better hardware. The PS5 can't release soon enough. Hopefully this time it releases with the Pro edition at the same time. So poor people get the usual small upgrade and for twice the price you get an actual decent console.
I can see the PS4 lasting as long as the PS2 the way it's selling Sony would be foolish to discontinue it.
Fucks no! Not anytime soon because I still have lots to do on PS4 as it is, it's simply way too early for PS5. Release it like in 2022 at the very least.

I personally think it was an okay console before the existing Pro, it's the games that I enjoy and the Pro itself just came way too early.

Nobody would force you to buy the PS5 if it releases tomorrow. There will always be stuff to do on old gens when a new one releases.
@Shewgenja: Bernie will be 79 years old... I like him, but not sure if he'll be able to run a country unless he's in miraculous health.
@dalger21: That's not even a rumor. Only idiots would believe and spread such nonsense. I'm keeping my PS4 and Pro either way, but it's still nonsense to think it wouldn't have BC this time.

Two thoughts:
1. Watch that m'fer live to be 110 and we all have to sit around with our collective thumbs up our asses having passed on the most popular and understandable and trustworthy politician of our time because we were scared he was "too old." Considering the gross ineptitude and evil we've had running the show up to this point, that is a risk I am willing to take kthx.
2. As long as he has a good running mate with similar policy stances, the train doesn't stop. Personally, I'd love to see Tulsi Gabbard as his running mate if I could just wave magic wands around and shit.
No. Just built a pretty strong PC last year and im perfectly fine with launch ps4. PS4 Pro is decent enough upgrade for the time being. It's ultimately up to the games at this point so if they continue to release high quality titles, ill be happy. Too early for REAL 4K gaming on console and yes, that includes the one X
No, if they keep it up like they've been doing I'm good being in this gen a little longer. I'd also like to see them take the time to perfect the next system and improve on every aspect of it tbh
