Do you subscribe to PS+ or Xbox Live?

I haven't subscribed to Xbox Live since the original Xbox when I used to play Rainbow Six 3. I did subscribe to PS+ for the first time when I bought my PS4 to play Killzone and some other games online. With PS+, I only got the 3 month package and even then, I sort of regretted it. I personally think these online services are a joke and don't really provide anything that's worth the money. From now on, I'm only going to be buying games that I plan on playing online for the PC. This online paywall on consoles is actually going to force me to buy a lot more games on PC than I did last gen. I guess it's forcing me to do the right thing because the PC versions are vastly superior after all. Not only do I get the free online, but I get better graphics/performance, better deals (Steam), better controller options and forums are just an alt-tab away.

I had a Live subscription from the start up until early last gen. It was worth it early on, but when PS3 became my primary console and PSN was offering pretty much the same experience, I ditched it.

Never signed up for PS+. It actually does seem like a good deal and I almost bit the bullet a couple of months back. I just don't really game online though... and when I do feel the itch, I have my PC.

Both. I probably wont renew my PS+ subscription since the games they've been giving are mostly crap, and the online isn't as good as XBL.

I've been subscribed to Xbox Live for about 9 years now and it's worth every penny to have the best online service.

I don't see any reason to subscribe to PS+ at the moment since there are no great PS4 exclusive online multiplayer games yet and the service is inferior to Xbox Live, so for any online multiplayer game that gets released, I just buy it for Xbox.

hell, the water guy alone has not looked at my meter in so long grass and dirt has completely covered the lid so they basically charge me whatever the **** they feel like and that shit is over a thousand a year.

I've had XBL Gold when I played on my 360 and I'm using PS+ on my PS4 now. I like the games you get every month, it's even better when it's on both my Vita and PS4. I'd play MP games on PC but I just don't like using keyboard and mouse. Also my friends play on console.

As a lifelong PC gamer I refuse to pay for the privilege of using my own internet (which I already pay for every month). I pride myself on having more than one braincell so no, PS and Xbox live were hilarious non starters for me. Bought both a PS3 and 360 and now own PS4 and X1 and play all my online games on PC.

Microsoft and Sony are probably both still astonished that people are stupid enough to pay them both for using their own internet.

With all due respect running your own server for likeminded people and making your own personal decision to pay for it is not on a par with just wanting to play a game online and discovering MS and Sony have hidden it behind a paywall. Pay, or don't play. That has never EVER happened to me on PC.

I agree 100%. But then again, if you aren't willing to shell out the cash to build a master race gaming PC, they kind of have you by the balls if you want to play online. I could understand people paying while understanding that it's a ripoff and they have no other choice, but the people that embrace it as if it's god's gift to gaming is just hilarious.

Yes, you can get both on sale. XBL typically $40-$45 and PS+ typically $30-$35 at select time periods. I own every single XBLG GWG game released ever. I also avoided PS+ as long as possible as I didn't want to subscribe to two services.

Both the Xbone and PS4 released last year in Nov 2013. They are the same age, so the comparison's between the two are pretty interesting to me as an owner of both machines. It intrigues me how these machine's services compare and I will post this information and my experience for those less fortunate who own neither machine or only one machine.

Both companies have promised two free new games a month with their service, but one company delivers less (one new Xbone game this month with XBL GWG) and the other either delivers the promised two games or has offered more (this month we got 3 PS+ games on PS4). Even counting Drive Club PS+ that was delayed, that month we saw three other new PS+ games as well, although it would have been 4 new PS+ games if DC had not been delayed.

To date Xbone has had only 8 new free GwG games, but they also have recycled games four different months which has been unfortunate. They also started late.

To date the PS4 has had 22 new free PS+ games, so I think Sony has been far more progressive/generous with their service to the consumers and may deliver on this front first.

inb4 quality comes up. I posted about it before, but using metacritic as a barometer, PS+ PS4 games are often of much higher quality than the XBLG Xbone GWG offerings. Personally, I can attest to that, but I wanted to point out that the 22 PS+ free games are of much higher quality before a user asks me if the 8 games are better quality.

Both companies are only offering smaller indie sized games for PS4/Xbone (as expected), but PS+ will change that in January with Injustice GOTY for PS4.

Both the PS4/Xbone lose free PS+/XBLG GWG games if you stop subscribing.

Also, the value of PS+ and XBLG go up if you own other machines. With one account, PS+ covers the PS4, PS3, and Vita. With one account, XBLG covers the Xbone and 360.

Also, I enjoy the discounts offered by both services, but lately those $1-$2 flash game sales on PSN have been a big win. inb4 steam sales which I also enjoy.

It seems you are confusing the two price points. His point is you can get them on sale. IN THIS FORUM FOR YEARS, That is almost always some POSTER'S point when XBLG comes up, that you can pay less if you shop around and wait.

Funny though, we can get everything on sale if you shop around and wait: Xbones, Cars, Computers, Houses, XBLG, PS+, Wii Us, jewelry, Clothes, PS3s, Books, motorcycles, PS4s, GAMES, Blu-Rays, shoes, etc.

Yes, you can find deals on pretty much any consumer product, but for whatever reason when XBLG comes up, some lemmings make a colossal effort to explain to users YOU CAN GET A DEAL!!! Yes, you can get a deal.

Just like everything else. You don't HAVE to buy MCC collection for $60. You can get it on sale for $20. You don't have to buy SUNSET OVERDRIVE for $60, you can get it on SALE. We know this. However, for some reason with Xbox Live Gold topic, there is usually an odd lemming or two that goes around preaching you can get XBLG on sale.

I have seen it too many times (1000x) since the original Xbox/GC/PS2 era here in SW...and I've seen it about 4 times in the last two months. Here we are today. Maybe you weren't comparing the two, but it's just so repetitive. Why not give the guy a heads up he can buy all the games ever for $20 if he waits, because in theory he can. Why does the thrifty shopping have to end at XBLG? Why not get an Xbone in two years for maybe $200, get the big 2014 games everyone is buying right now for $60 and buy them new for less than $20 next Xmas 2015?

If XBLG topic comes up in a few weeks, maybe you'll see it too. After the XBL topic is created, eventually some user will post in there about how he got XBLG for $45 and he's so smart and special. He may even argue with other users that XBLG on SALE for $40 is cheaper than PS+ regular price for $50. I've seen it over and over and over. It never fails. It's no offense, it's just sort fascinating quite honestly. On the flip side of it, good looking out for this guy.
