As I grow older, my interest in gaming wanes. Whereas I used to spend hours upon hours on gaming back in high school or college, nowadays I probably don't even game 10hrs a month. Of course when a game catches my interest I might play a lot more. Anyway, I doubt I game much in my 50's or 60's.

What about you SW?

Having 3 kids makes gaming kinda tough. That and Ive been spending my time working out while they’re sleeping at night. I bet I’ll play more in my 50’s and 60’s as the kids leave the nest. But there’s very little time for gaming right now.

Maybe I won’t see PlayStations movie games as such a waste of time in 18ish years.

Yes but less if I have more responsibility.

In future I may only play selected games that I believe are masterpieces.

Yes, as long as Nintendo keeps making games, I’ll be gaming. I only play kids games though, I hate realistic games. I’m too old for that crap.

exactly. not enough time.

Do work/Business, look after wife, Going to gym, etc.

just play 1 or 2 hours and selected games and move on.

i think so in some form or another. i'm in a bit of a lull at the moment regarding playing games so slowly picking away at learning to make a basic game at least. keeps me out of the pub. will probably drive me to the pub at some point too :P.

i have also started into wildermyth which has proven interesting so far.

Probably, but I'm sure the amount will continue to decline and the type of games will change too. Highly doubt I'll be playing "DOOM rEturnal 4D" when I'm in my 60s. As I am now I play "thinking man" games more and more in favor of intense action or git gud shit

Definitely, just turned 40 this may and still enjoy gaming a lot! That being said with 2 kids and a full time job, my play time is definitely limited, but don’t see myself giving up this hobby any time soon!

I really do not know as I cannot predict the future. It is possible that years from now that I stop gaming due to lack of interest, but it is possible that I will continue on. However, there will be a point in my life that I will be unable to play games due to age and will have stop.

I don't see myself giving up on gaming completely. But I'll probably focus my time and effort on a select few titles that pique my interest. I believe I've already started going down that road.

While I game less and less these days, I don't think I'll ever forget how to pick up a controller and play.

While I don't buy a monthly new game release anymore, I could imagine there will always be games, however far and few between, that will entice me to jump back in.

Most of the popular games are painfully generic and could be the cause of burn out. Look at the number of sequels? Look how at the games most requested? (sequels) If you only play the triple A games, burn out is almost guaranteed. With that said, I expect to be playing games for a very long time. I have made it my past time and profession.

Then Gaming Jesus (GabeN) will come grab me and place me into the pearly gates of E-Heavens (aka Matrix).

I'm in my 40s, been gaming since atari and my interest in games is still there... I just feel the weight of time so much more and it makes me choose other hobbies more often. I just summited Mt Rainier in Washington a few weeks ago... I couldn't have done that while also gaming the way I did in my 20s.

One trip on spaceship earth is all we get. I'm hyper focused on making it count. It's why I love these handheld devices like switch and steam deck. They allow the hobby to come with me to play when most convenient. It's almost like games used to use me... And now I use games. I don't know if that makes any sense but it does to me.

In terms of games... Diminishing returns is real. If the industry doesn't innovate gameplay the product becomes familiar and less enticing.

Its the same as eating a donut for breakfast, lunch and dinner.. Could be your favorite donut but how long are you gonna eat that menu before being fatigued on donuts?

I don't think so. My interest is already declining and I play fewer and fewer games, even when I do, I got bored easily also getting bad at playing them for some reason even though the games are easier than they used to be. Can't belive it's happening because I used to complete games in single sittings some times.

as long as games keep coming out that interest me, I don't see why not. My interest ebbs and flows depending on what games are coming out and what else is going on in my life but if nothing else I'll usually spend a few hours most weeks playing some staple MP games with friends.

don't have the zeal for gaming I did as a teenager but its still among several hobbies I greatly enjoy

No. There’s a lot more to life than gaming. For me anyway. I only game late at night when people are asleep. It’s more to kill time than enjoyment. Meh, just the way it is. I’ve been gaming less and less every year.

Been gaming since 1993 with SNES as my first console machine, became a primarily PC gamer in 2007 when Crysis arrive and up till this point, I find PC gaming, in general, has made my gaming life so easy & simple, it's kinda hard to get into consoles as they are still more expensive entry than on PC. I have 2 kids, (2 daughters) I wouldn't be gaming all the time if it wasn't for PC that makes my life so easy to just game for a long time and my PC is a workstation I like to make money on the side of things so that's why I just stick to gaming on PC. I should point out I'm very good at managing my time when it comes to family time and gaming time.

I'm in my late 30s, (36) video games are my passion, it's my only fav hobby out of watching Anime/Movies in general. So yes, I do see myself gaming for the rest of my life if my body allows it.

I don't play as much as I used to (still play plenty ) and definitely get less enjoyment from it then I once did. Don't ever see myself stopping though.

It would be nice to take a break from it though, just not sure what else I could/would do.

That is a sad af way of seeing things. Gaming is a hobby. It doesn't matter how rich or poor you're to have a good time.

And on thread, its funny how people on here are telling me that i "grew out of gaming" because i bitch n moan about games i dislike, when most in here are admitting that they're barely playing video games at this point LOL. Me on the other hand, if its a game i enjoy, i can easily do 5-10h of nolifing it in one day😱I am not the one that has lost or losing passion for gaming lmao.

Nah, people game to live vicariously through the characters. If they had real money they wouldn't need to do that. If I could own a castle or a small island, I could do basically anything I wanted irl.

Who the hell would wanna play video games if they could afford a luxury yacht and super models?

Holy shit i couldn't disagree more. Money will not allow you to do things that you can do in gaming, obviously.

I couldn't care less about a yacht and a super model is not a hobby.

I think that you're one of the few who've told me that i "outgrew gaming". But in reality, i think its you who's getting too old for this hobby.

And there is another thing. Gaming is not my only hobby, i have multiple, one of which i enjoy at least as much as gaming. While i assume that most on here are only into gaming as their main and only hobby.

I've never said or thought anything of the sort. The people who say that are just casual gamers and was never dedicated to the hobby.

I don't see people saying they've outgrown movies or books, because it's such an idiotic sentiment.

This is some 12 year old thinking. You can't bang supermodels and drive a yacht 24/7, even those people have free time to play video games.

The case would be made if you're that rich you probably don't have a 9-5 job, making video gaming even more easy to fit in while you do that "rich person stuff".

I meant dedicated gaming. Sure, I could play God of War on the way to Italy, but I wouldn't spend any real amounts of time gaming if I could do whatever I wanted.

That's very subjective. I know many wealthy people IRL and Online who play video games more than just casually (but not hardcore). Somewhere in the middle. I've already made this point, but thing is when you're that rich and don't have a 9-5 there is literally only so much partying, traveling, blow, and hooker banging you can do in a week. You're probably going to fall into some kind of "normy" hobby.
