Devil May Cry series and Dante will always get my Vote.
Well? :)
Bayonetta = DMC3 > Bayonetta 2 > DMC
Since Bayonetta doesn't have something as awful as DMC2 under its belt, it wins by default.
Right now about even.
If Bayonetta keeps going strong (not sure how well 2 did, but not so bad Nintendo didn't want her in Smash) pretty soon it will be Bayonetta.
Bayonetta=DMC:DMC(the reboot)>DMC4>DMC3>DMC2>DMC1
that's right i think the reboot was better(gameplay wise at least) than classic DMC games
Just recently bought Bayonetta for the 360 and the jaggies are unbelievable, they actually interfere with my ability to see what's going on. So Devil May Cry alone for the ability to play on platforms where jaggies aren't an issue.

DMC here also but mainly out of nostalgia.
I still remember how excited i was with original DMC . Reboot also was great. Bayonetta though is a crazy game and is really next to DMC for me.
The combat engine in DMC3 is dope as ****, but the composition of that game is pretty weak in spots. Not the least of which is some of the pacing and level design, it's an area that Bayonetta easily clowns it, and I'd argue even the original DMC still holds up better in those areas (combat obviously not being as strong). So the Bayonetta games, by a hair. Get it, do you get it? do do you get it?
Right?

@Chozofication:
When there's a crowd of enemies surrounding bayo their jagged edges combine with the low resolution to make a jumbled pixelated mess that makes it hard to see whats going on. Haven't played much but that was very offputting.

It's 720p (HD) native, you're the first i've ever heard say this. How you'd find that too blurry but not a Ps2 devil may cry game is just bizarre.
Bayonetta, have the definitive Wii U collection ^_^
I wouldn't mind getting the latest game, haven't played it, they had DMC4 and latest DMC on sale for $32 bundled over holiday but I already had DMC4 so it would've been a redundant purchase for me, I wish they'd of also had DMC by itself discounted then I'd of totally gotten
Bayonetta for me. I still enjoy DMC and Devil May Cry, but Bayonetta is just awesome fun to play through.
Only DMC I liked was DMC3. Only Bayonetta I played was the first. Liked Bayo just a bit more than DMC3. I'm sure I'll enjoy Bayo 2 as well from what I hear.
So in conclusion.
Ninja Gaiden Black.
I'm not a huge fan of either, but I prefer Devil May Cry.
Bayonetta's weird Japanese flavor is just too strong for my taste.
So I've played both Bayonetta games, but just picked up the PS3 DMC HD Collection. Should I skip any of the entries?

Judging by fans, DMC2 seems to be the one to avoid like Neo and bullets in the Matrix.
I really liked DMC4 and the reboot. DMC3 and DMC were pretty good also. DMC2 sucked major...well you know. I really never could get into Bayonetta / B2. It was a fun game for an hour or two. Then it just became boring grinding. So all in all I prefer DMC more, but I do like to watch Bayonetta move more than Virgil / Dante.
