Do you play any of these popular multiplayer zoomer shooters?

I am really missing a multiplayer fps/tps that i can play daily like in the old BF BC2 days. So much so i literally forced myself to play bassman's fav game, BF2042, back when it came out. Outside of Escape From Tarkov, literally 100% of these "competitive shooters"that every zoomer plays, i find them to be unplayable trash. And Tarkov is so plagued with cheaters that its simply unplayable, so i just can't play what i want to sink hundreds of hours in.

The list

CoD multiplayer
Warzone 1
Warzone 2
Valorant
Apex
PUBG
Fortnite (the worst game ever created by a human being, actually)

Any of you are into these?

None of the above for me. Unless you include Halo MP game's it'll be different.

Nobody plays it, so i didn't want to include it. Nor is it remotely close to being as popular as the games i've mentioned.

I don't miss playing multiplayer class based games.

Whenever my friends are up to it I like playing RTS like age of empires or company of heroes now.

The last multiplayer FPS I put serious time into:

  • Battlefield 1
  • Rising Storm 2
  • Day of Infamy
  • Red Orchestra 2
  • Killing Floor 2
  • Battlefield V

I have tried Fortnite and Apex. They're awful. I did really well in them too, so I guess I was playing mostly with children.

The only online FPS I play now is Hunt: Showdown. Probably one of the best videogames ever made, and no one here plays it.

For better or worse.... Battlefield for life! The vast majority of MP FPS do not do anything for me after playing BF.

I don't like them, but my nephews love them, i have installed Warzone 2 and fortnite on several devices to keep them from doing mayhem when they come to visit, recently i got rid of warzone 1 since they don't play it anymore.

Nope. I only play Halo CE lan once every two or three months. Playing this weekend 🎉. I hate every game you listed.

Hunt looks pretty neat.

I tried Valorant cos it was the closest to CSGO, but it was bad. I went back to CSGO. I also play some Apex from time to time, but I'm mainly a CSGO player.

Pretty much given up on FPS multiplayer outside of maybe COOP. It's just too time consuming, the business practices now suck, and you have to engage with other gamers, who are mostly trash (like you) but now you can perceive it.

Fighting game, 90 - 120 sec. No talking to anyone. In out in out. Hang around and lab for 900 years.

Just so much less crap to get to the good stuff.

I played a lot of COD Black Ops back in 2010 and 2011.

A lot of Halo MCC multiplayer.

Some time into Halo 5 and Halo Infinite.

And I did try Fortnite for a few weeks back around 2018 but it always felt like a waste of time.

BR’s are fun. Especially with friends and family. This board hates them, but they still run the industry. By kids are nuts at Fortnite now, and carry my wife and I to ranked victories here and there. My 8 year old just barely missed a cash prize in a Cash Cup a few weeks ago. He was devastated when I told him he wasn’t old enough to redeem any winnings.

You were playing bots. That’s how they ease you into the game (and into your wallet) These kids out here would have put you in your place. They’re brutal and talk all sorts of shit. The words I hear coming out of these high pitch voices… My kids are only allowed to talk to us when they play.

Haven’t played CoD multiplayer in some time but do very much enjoy it and keep wanting to get back into it. Tried Apex briefly when it first came out. Seemed like a very good and well made game but it just wasn’t really something for me. Also enjoy Destiny but haven’t played that in awhile either. Kind of interested in hopping back in and checking out the new content. Still jump back into Halo: Infinite multiplayer from time to time and really enjoy that.

@hardwenzen: I used to love PUBG. The moment to moment can either be incredibly tense or freaking hilarious. But I don't like to spend too much time with online stuff.

I'll probably sink some time in CS2.

Don't play these, as far as online mp shooters my top 3 are a mix of Halo Infinite, Overwatch, and some Insurgency sprinkled in.

Need more competitive shooters that aren't Battle Royal. Battle Royal sucks.

Of games listed by TC valorant is the only one I half way give a shit about.

My high school students keep telling me I need to play Rust, but I grew up enjoying single player, couch co-op, and local versus multiplayer shooter games.

Even as a teen during the Xbox 360’s online heyday, I never got into online multiplayer. Just doesn’t do it for me.

Does it really matter that these shooters appeal to Generation Z (aka Zoomers) gamers? And also, what is with the Generation Wars on this forum? As an older generation gamer, I do not take issues with younger generation gamers as some on this forum are doing.

These days I play a lot of Rogue Company and Warzone/MWII when it comes to multiplayer.

Recently, I downloaded Vigor and gave that a go, a friend also talked me into buying Hunt Showdown Platinum Edition which was on sale for $20 and regularly $90.

I loved PUBG when it first showed up. I'd played the Arma mod it was based on and was in on the concept, and PUBG at least initially had very Arma-esque gameplay. I love that slow deliberate style. had a group I played with and put like 700 hours in before it went F2P and got away from what I liked about it.

Never liked any other BR game.

a friend gifted me MW2 (2) last year, and it was actually better than I expected. had some fun messing around with the normal MP, but I've never really liked Warzone. It gets away from what makes BR fun by letting players get access to loadouts and come back in with the comeback arena/getting bought back in by team mates.

Unfortunately I'm back on and off Siege even though I don't like it much. I played the ever living hell out of Warzone 1 and 2 but I have had it deleted for over two weeks now. The amount of cheating, room lag, button delay, and getting shot around corners is absolutely ridiculous at this point. I'm just waiting for an actual decent shooter to release and it seems as though it has taken ages and will continue to take longer. Don't know what to expect with XDefiant or The Finals, but not holding my breath for either one. Every day I wake up hoping to hear an announcement of a new SOCOM game.

I used to be really into apex but I quit as then the PS5 controllers dont have option for back button like the DS4 back button attachment and I dont really want to spend $200 on a custom one.

Funnily I later did buy a $200 fps controller but I never tested it on Apex cause I dont want to get addicted to it again.

Only invested in the battlepass once. It give u just enough premium coins to renew for next season and character unlocks is surprisingly cheap using the in game money. All my skin is just the battlepass progression rewards and odd epic lootbox drop.

Probably cause I already got the skins I wanted early I just never cared and I only use 3 characters (Bangalore, Vantage & lifeline).

The time value proposition of multiplayer games that aren't local almost never holds up. For "hundreds of hours" you could read so many books, watch so many movies, play so many high quality single player games.

Games are made for entertainment. I don't see anything wrong with being entertained by one game for a long time. I've re-read books, re-played games, re-played intrustments, re-watched movies, etc. I don't think that's a waste of time at all as long as it's fun.

When you find a game that speaks to you so well that you can have fun with it for hundreds of hours, that should be celebrated. "You could have done this and that instead", yeah sure. But you obviously didn't want to, so why do it?

Sure, if you enjoy what you spend your time on, it's well spent.

Having said that, I think it's easy to fall into habits that feel good at the moment but maybe in reflection aren't providing you with as much hapiness as alternatives. I think given that being good at a multiplayer game often requires so much time investment, that investment should be scrutinized highly so you can say with confidence you're getting the best value with your life. You only get a finite amount of time and you'll never get it back.
