So do you notice FPS drop in a game?

If it is an occasional frame drop or just a few frames dropped in sequence I do not notice.

For example of a game is targetting 60fps and has a section where it is dropping frames but staying above 55 fps I have a hard time telling.

Now if the game experiences hard drops in fps high 40s to low 50s I can notice that.

Any one else like me?

On pc i notice even 1fps drop (from 60 to 59). On consoles, when its close to 60fps, i notice it less so, but when it drops below 30fps, its instantly noticeable.

Yeah I notice when things drop below 45 or so.

I've got a decent PC but Cyberpunk really pushed it, and in crowds I noticed the drop big time. I don't know how people can accept 30 fps as a standard these days, it's ridiculous for any game except maybe turn-based games with fixed camera points.

On PC, I do when the frames drop below the FreeSync threshold.

On Console, yes but only when it's a big spike or if it's consistent.

I can detect frame rate drops, I just don't know my tolerance.

I have a G-sync 1440p/165hz monitor I'll notice framerate drops regardless if have MSI Afterburner faps on or not, I can notice the difference between 165hz to 60fps dropping in between. Depends on the game, its not a deal breaker but going below 60fps is a a valid concern.

Stability is the key for me. If it's a locked stable 30fps on console alone, I'm fine with it. Doesn't mean I wouldn't prefer 60fps.

Oh yeah. Even on PC with freesync/gsync if they’re big enough. Screen tearing drives me nuts too. Dynamic resolution changes are pretty noticeable too imo. It’s nice that devs are developing these features, but they all still need a lot of work.

For sure... I can tell a frame drop from a loading hitch as well.

yeah VRR isnt some magic trick, esp on lower frames, 60-55 is minor but freesync/gsync aint saving you from 60-40

Going from 144fps to 120fps with Gsync? Nope. Going from 60fps to 55fps with Vsync or on console? Yes, very much so.

I have eagle vision when it comes to frame rate and that is why I am so anal about it. Low frame rate and drops are very distracting to me.

Depends on the drop.

from 60-50. not really. from 30-25. absolutely.

If its bouncing around a lot and im moving in a straight line i will also notice.

i'm not really picky on framerate though so it doesnt bother me.

Screen tearing..now thats a different story. vsync on always. i wish i could have waited for the screen i actually wanted which had freesync support. ah well.

Still notice it but it doesn't usually bother me so much, in most situations. Display lag and Input latency are a much bigger turnoff.

Sure I’ll notice but I couldn’t tell you what that threshold of me noticing it would be. For example I couldn’t really tell you if I’d notice a drop from 60 to like 55 or even 50.

I notice it when it even when it drops down to 60 on PC games, but it doesn't bother me as much as console frame drops.

G-Sync helps a lot (especially with screen tearing and input lag), but you don't want major frame rate fluctuations. I have a C9 as well and it is definitely noticeable at higher frame rates when there is camera movement or you are aiming in an FPS.

Wasn't RE8 supposed to be like 45-50fps with RT on? Wasn't 60fps buttery smooth but it felt consistent and wasn't a problem.

Only a severe drop. Frame drops hardly ever affect my enjoyment of a game.

Honestly depends on the setup, the genre of game (to a lesser extent), and how massive of a drop.

On my PC with gsync on, I will not notice most fps drops (this assume that I am running close to the 144hz/144fps, so at that point if it did drop from say 140 to 120, I would not notice it). However if it is a substantially large drop, then I would notice it (this could also be due to gamma shift, my monitor "flickers" slightly when gsync is on when there is a massive drop in fps).

When playing console though, yes I would notice a drop if a game targets 30 fps (it already feels iffy at 30, and a drop further increases that annoying feeling). But also depends, say a game is targeting 60, if I am playing on my OLED and it's a PS5 connected, I would notice it (since there is no vrr on PS5), but if it's on the Xbox, then I would not notice it (again assuming 60 target or higher and vrr). But at 30 target regardless of vrr or not I would notice it.

Yes I notice FPS drops and I easily notice FPS under 100 as well. Anything under 60 is unplayable at this point for me - and generally 60 fps is fine but not preferable.
