Do you miss World War 2 shooters?

Me thinks it would be cool if the next call of duty is world at war 2. I kinda miss those games. You?

PS2 era was all World War 2 Shooters, PS3 ERA modern day shooters, PS4 sci fi shoooters....

id take something being entirely different as FPS put me off the genre from being quite similar to one and another or that maybe the case with just console offerings.

yes i do.. i would love to see another WW2 shooter but have it taking place in other places like the pacific or something instead of the usual Normandy

Yes. Though at the time the market was heavily saturated with them, but after COD4: Modern Warfare everybody jumped on that bandwagon and left WW2 FPSs in the dust. When COD: World At War rolled around it was a breath of fresh air.

I can dig a WW2 anytime. Honestly, I'd rather see them swap missions between, WW1 and 2

Because if serious, you are an idiot. Over 60 million people died fighting in World War II (more than any other war since, combined) and fought in some of the most tactically creative and elegant battles in the history of warfare. It is one of the most interesting periods of human warfare history and the technological advancement made in those 6 short years was astronomically huge.

Tanks alone went from basically armored trucks with machine guns to full on modern tanks in that time.

COD 1, COD2, COD3, COD WAW, I think that´s enough COD WW2 games.

Absolutely! I'm sooooo sick of "modern" shooters... they're so boring.

But I doubt COD will go back there because it probably doesn't suit MP anymore, which means there isn't much money to be made there so Activision won't go near it. Maybe EA could bring back the Medal of Honor series?!?!

I believe I played all of the quality WWII FPS. I'm done with them and if I'm not, I have dozens of them to play in my home.

Wouldn't mind them returning to that era. At this point I think it would add some much needed variety in the genre. Getting tired of all these sci-fi shooters.

I might like a WW2 FPS if it can capture the confused fighting in the jungles of the Pacific plus have true day/night cycles and weather.

I'd like nights to be so dark I rely on subtle sound cues (eg Amnesia) to detect infiltrating Japanese soldiers. Open-world would be a plus too.

Yes. The last CoD i loved was CoD2, and Battlefield 1943 was one of the best mp shooters of last gen.

Well, I don't really play shooters anymore, but even if I did, **** no. I've had enough WW2 games for a lifetime. They'd really have to do something damn interesting with it to get my attention.

Depends on how it's done. I'd like to see a more open single player WW2 shooter rather than the corridor shooters which are made today. If it's just another corridor shooter I can't say I care.

lol, america used a 2 defeated civilian towns to test the atomic bomb on them. Russia are the ones who took over Germany, forced them to surrender, and made Hitler kill himself in a hole. They also had the most casualties.

I used to think America won it too until I learned about the true history of that war.

I totally miss CoD2 on the 360. One of the finest FPS shooters I've ever played, both in terms of single player campaign and multiplayer. That kar98k was fucking deadly.

I miss BF1942. If they could just release that with better graphics I'd be happy (1943 came close but they removed the ability to drive the large ships and got rid of the gun batteries on the coast, also it only had a few of the maps).

I am still burnt out on them. It seems like there was a time when every shooter was a WWII shooter.

There isn't much variety now in shooters either.

Yeah, but that was a long time ago. Since MW1 most shooters are modern.. And unlike the WW phase when games were different and varied, the majority of modern shooters now all look the same.
