Poll Do you have a VR system? Want one? (98 votes)

I have PS VR 22%
I have Oculus 17%
I have HTC Vive 7%
I don't have one, but want one eventually. 15%
I might get one. 9%
Gonna wait and see next gen VR. 13%
Not for me. 32%

I don't have one, but I think if the next gen PS VR turns out good, I'll probably get it. It's just hard to have another system like that when there are so many systems and games out right now. But if Sony nails it, I can see me getting one. How about you, SW? Do you have a VR system? Want one?

I have PSVR as of right now cause Sony has the games I wanted to play the most and I had an HTC Vive but sold it to get PSVR. Playing VR in my PC space area didn't do justice for me, but with PSVR, I have plenty of room and my PS4 sits in the living room with a wide area.

Tried it, realized its just another gimmick (aka 3d) and moved along with extra money in my wallet.

No.

I want to get into VR when it's better. I'm talking smaller and better headset, less wires, better control methods, cheaper, less taxing on hardware and better games.

Maybe in 10 years from now or so.

I don't have one.

I knid of want one.

I've been waiting for better hardware. I think it's about time soon. The latest iteration of the hardware from Valve and Oculus looks pretty appealing.

I'll have to look closer at the specs for the new Half-Life VR game. Sounds like a good starting point.

I want one, but the current price point it just too much. It probably always will be, really. I'm not sure how good VR can be made cheap.

@freedomfreak: what MSRP did PSVR launch at again? Was it around 200 dollars?

I remember it being among the cheaper sets (that wasn't made out of cardboard) and came with a bunch of minigames.

I have a PSVR I bought with the dildos and Skyrim for $250 cad. Love it. Currently playing blood and truth.

VR for me doesn’t replace conventional gaming, it’s a nice treat when you want a change. I sometimes spend 3 hours with the goggles on and it flies by

I have a lenovo explorer. It's actually pretty cool, but there aren't any ground breaking games yet. I'm hoping that the new Half-Life will provide that experience.

I got a PSVR and I really enjoyed it. I just wish the library was bigger. Needs more Resident Evil VIIs, Farpoints and Astro Bots.

Very temped right now, but on the ones without lighthouses and wires, not interesting in having a room set up like NASA headquarters.

I voted the HTC vive option as its the closest...but i have an index.

It's pretty cool but it really does need a killer app. No one has really nailed VR yet..i'm not really sure what form that would take even. It's also a bit limited by the squishy human wearing the headset :P.

but games wise its mostly trying to bolt existing game design thinking to a very very different way to play games. it still feels very experimental.

but it is very immersive. I mean we all laugh at seeing people fall over thinking there is a table to lean on but its easy to forget after a while that what you are seeing is not there. even with pretty basic graphics it really does suck you in. Even something like metroid prime, even with its GC visuals (just scaled up and optimised for VR to clear up the image) would be amazing in VR.

The hardware does need work too. On the index the headset is nice but the Finger tracking on the knuckles controllers lacks finesse. You can grab things and pick up things (and flip people off of course :P) but you couldn't type on a virtual keyboard for example...at least not naturally.Throwing things is also very hit/miss (though this could be a developer implementation problem).

Wireless across the board really needs to become a thing too. The quest is a great idea but mobile hardware is still going to lack the sheer grunt needed to do VR well. As an entry point for VR the quest is and will be a great setup but VR does benefit from a higher refresh rate and higher res screens so the mobile hardware will be on the back foot a bit. So i think being wirelessly tethered to a base stations (whether it be a console or PC) is the way to go. The wire is a pain. no getting around it.

I don't see VR as a replacement for big screen gaming or handheld gaming or anything but just another pillar. it just offers a very different and very immersive way to play games. There are many games where i think "Why would i ever play this in VR?" (Like Diablo or warhammer total war) and there are others where i think "HOLY CRAP I WANT THIS IN VR!" like prime or F1.

Then there is the undiscovered. What only makes sense in VR?

Rift S is my first VR headset I owned and I have tried the HTC Vive... Get the Rift S, its far superior in terms of image quality and cheaper with no light houses.

With this game and the new medal of honour coming out for VR, slowly VR is shaping up to have a decent future and there are still another 2 games that Valve are working on, hopefully one is a MP game like a Team Fortress VR or Left 4 Dead VR game.

PSVR Owner.

Love it so far. It’s really cool.

Blood and Truth is the coolest game I have played. It is a AAA title for sure and I recommend it to everyone.

I wish it would have got more hype and advertising because they outdid themselves with this title.

It actually has big budget blockbuster feel to it.

I have a PSVR. I've discovered there's limited games that work for me but that's still plenty. I can't do walking in VR for very long as I start to get motion sick.

Games where I'm in a vehicle and moving forward has little effect on me and I can play much longer. Racing (even Wipeout) works well. Also being stationary and looking around.

Admittedly I've only tried PSVR for a couple of minutes, and I didn't like it.

Don't know how much better the others are. But I just can't imagine wearing those things on my head for hours on end.

I have a Vive and Index. I had Rift with Touch too but I gave it to my nephew when he upgraded his PC last year as I preferred the Vive and Index wasn't out at the time. My Vive is a day one preorder unit and still works like new, though it's back in its box and in the loft now that I have the Index as that's just better in every way.

Don't own one, have played on HTC Vive for several 45 minute sessions though.

Don't want one until they stop making me nauseous, but I hope the tech matures one day and I can enjoy it then.

I owned a Vive a few months after it released, but BARF.

BARF BARF BARF BARF BARF!!!

😑😐😶😯🥴🤢🤮🤮🤮🤧😠😡🤬😕🙁☹️😞😭

I’m in the shitty position of loving a new tech I can’t use. I’m hoping that in time the advancements in hardware can help mitigate my propensity to become ill from it, and I’ll try to adapt better (think a mistake I made was trying to brute force my way through the nausea). There’s so many cool games available, and it especially sucks as I love not only the games but the creative apps like 3D sculpting that can then be 3D printed. I was planning on starting a small business selling my creations but that’s not possible currently.

In time I’m hoping. Doubtful though as just typing this out is making me queasy.

I have the PSVR and I don't know that it's something I'd recommend. At least in this form. It feels bulky and the motion controllers suck. I've played a few okay things on it, but mostly it still seems gimmicky. However, in the future, if the wires become a thing of the past, I'll consider buying one again. I have glanced once or twice at the Oculus Quest, but I have yet to see a killer must-play game anywhere in VR that convinces me I should shell out that kind of money again.

Yes, I have an Oculus Rift.

It's great, and I maintain that VR is going to stay relevant until it is eventually mainstream. I'm waiting for VR "2.0" before I invest any further, though.

I want on-headset trackers and no screen-door effect, then I will be sold on an upgrade.

As of right now I do still get my mind blown by my Oculus Rift.

Viiiiiiive~ It's a really cool headset. Not 100% comfortable and takes a while to set up. But the experience is amazing! The tracking is so accurate it's spooky. I hope they work out the kinks in future headsets. If I had the money I would constantly upgrade to their newest iteration. It's just so expensive.

I have the PSVR. It has some obvious limitations (too many cables, resolution, etc), but it's still far better my most optimistic predictions, especially when it comes to immersion.

I'm more than sold to tech anyway. Next gen wireless VR with much better screens will be out of this world!

Just be careful with any reflective surfaces. It should be 100% jitter-free where-ever you move. I didn't know this and expected that it was just a limitation of the tech, but it turned out my ceiling was reflective enough to confuse it.

@Litchie: already own a good gaming pc so yeah... in the lucky position to have enough money so I can spend it on stuff like that! Now finding the time to play all the games I want on the other hand, that is tough wife a wife, kid and a job...
