Do we need MGS4 remastered on PC and next gen consoles?

Hello friends

So MGS4 was last Third party exclusive on individual console that either never came to PC or other platform. I feel like konami missed the opportunity to never remastered the game on PC and current gen consoles. I never played it that is why but making remastered would be great opportunity for those who missed it.

MGS1 was masterpiece for PS1 standard but its too old for remastered and it need the proper remake. however they should not let last game that feature solid snake just dead in water. this game need remastered on PC.

From what I understand due to engine it's doubtful it could be transported over.

Sure, at this point they should just do a full collection release.

Not much point to porting it to the next Xbox or PS5, since console designers and the big three never think one generation ahead. We'd just ask for a remaster again the gen after and the gen after that. But it definitely should be ported to Windows, along with Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid (a new remaster), MGS2 (a new remaster) and MGS3.

Actually, I take back the Xbox. At least they care about backwards compatibility.

Maybe if the entire series was released as a collection. MGS 4 was good, but those sitcom length cutscenes were a bit much.

But MGS4 is the ultimate movie-game. I thought ghost hated those?

Well I certainly wouldn’t mind a remaster myself. I really enjoyed it on the PS3 and still have so I could replay it if I want but it certainly would be nice to play a spruced up version on current hardware.

Never going to happen. It was the one game Hideo outright said no when asked if this was coming out on other consoles. And it still hasn't. Greatest MGS game ever.

@ghosts4ever: emulators put more stress on the cpu than the gpu bro, plus if you own mgs4 on ps3 why shouldnt you be allowed to emulate it on pc? lol

isnt that what microsoft does now? If you bought the a game on xbox live/xbox one, you can also download and play the pc version.

people might wanna support the developers also, but guess what they no longer make new copies.

it's up to them, if they wanna sell the game again or not, it's not the consumers fault.

even if you buy the game for ps3, you arent supporting the developers anymore because they're all no longer sell new copies they're all used and konami doesnt sell retail version of it anymore.it's no different than emulating game on pc tbh.

The only games, i honestly download for the pc are games, i've bought in the past on console or pc and my disk is scratched up or whatever or i just dont feel like pulling it out and using my physical copy.

Great idea, now everyone can see for themselves what a farce that game was.

Right, pretty much everything after act 2 if we're being honest.

Act 3 is a disguised tailing mission followed by a mediocre chase sequence and straight up bad boss fight. Can self impose on the first part, ditch the disguise and play it like normal MGS. Which is better, but still not great.

Act 4, Crying Wolf is legit af if played as a stealth boss fight. Vamp is whatever, might as well be a cutscene. Escape sequence is lulz, but the Rex Ray showdown is dope at least. Problem is, the rest of the base is dealing with Gekkos and Scarabs. Cool setting wasted on a shallow experience, mix in some real patrols plz.

Act 5 is nothing. It's a movie. You have one sneaking sequence at the very start. A symmetrical and very rigid level layout. It's short, it's boring, and it 100% relies on octocamo to even work. After that, you're funneled through movie hallways leading up to the rock em sock em robots finale. I could deal with that being the final boss fight, goes for the feels, looks cool. But the level leading up to it is lame af.

Kinda funny, but was recently messing around in MGSV again. There's that random ass throw away mission where your base gets invaded by a generic ass enemy named Mosquito and his soldiers. This mission only meant to serve as training wheels for the FOB invasion multiplayer shit. Yet that mission is way the **** better as a sneaking mission through a man made structure than anything presented in Acts 4 or 5 of MGS4. The context is boring trash, but the actual playing it part is on another level.

Anyways, who are we kidding. Konami putting in the work to port the game as is to other systems would be a miracle. Them actually reworking the game, and doing a good job of it is some alternate universe shit.

TBH, i'd probably prefer a solid remaster of MGS1-3 or a remake. Someone is doing MGS1 in UE, but it needs work...

my friend, MGS1 had incredible story and and MGS2 was ahead of its time that predict social media. MGS1 for its time was masterpiece.

MGS is different series than typical tomb raider/uncharted/last of us. its actually action/stealth series with long cutscenes rather than just QTE fest.

And a movie game. The very thing you hate on. Why are you such a hypocrite? Latest game you hated on was Ghost of Tsushima, which is a lot less like a movie game than MGS4.

MGS4 is far more interactive, open and smart with its gameplay than the other games he listed. It definitely helps that non-interactivity is mainly relegated to cutscenes instead of being implemented with the gameplay as in most of these scripted, forced walking roller coaster adventures. Basically, the gameplay is pure and doesn't hold your hand as much as most western AAA blockbusters.

(Just a shame there isn't enough of it after the first few chapters. But I'd still rather play a shorter game that's good than a long game that's mediocre.)

@ezekiel43: Highly doubt it's more interactive than Ghost of Sushi. But I've played neither, so I shouldn't say too much.

Yeah, Kojima game. Tons of interaction, depth, and flexibility. Some of his games have been cutscene heavy, but they're no joke on the gameplay. Whole other level from typical Sony 1st party stuff.

MGS4 just had the worst balance. Smothered in feature length cutscenes. 5 act game, but the meat of the gameplay is only the first 2 acts.

Polar opposite of his last two games where you're playing uninterrupted 95+% of the time.

While ghosts is usually wrong most of the time, he's right about MGS.
