that raises the other concern again just puts back in the spotlight the fact that the system if you have an xbox one or xbox series console, i think xbox one that's been factory reset or its a new console and their server is not available you can't set it up , so its bascially like uh a paperweight or E-waste

I am so glad that Nintendo and Sony doesn't follow these harsh drm policies that MS does. I am glad that my hard copies of games don't rely the internet to be played, unlike the XBOX series

I don't like that Sony and MS have DRM. It's the thieves that ruin it for everyone.

Sony's isnt' that harsh, you're still able to play your hard copy of games with out checking with servers, unlike MS. DF seems like the way that Sony and Nintendo handles DRM.

Sadly, some of the games on the PS don't work offline either. Disc or digital. I wish Sony and MS would look into their DRM practice and find a way to improve it.

It's always worth pointing out that you do not have full control over your proprietary gaming console. Doesn't matter which corporation you are working with.

If you really care about preserving your games for the future then you will figure out a way to back up the data and bypass the DRM if necessary.

You have to be honest though, the thieves will always get what they want. Like Denuvo, they impose restrictions that inconvenience the legitimate customer far more than the pirate.

Digital game stores place limits on devices they can install it on, limits of who can be playing when family sharing, limits on playing offline, limits on performance when DRM steals CPU time and RAM.

Yet the thieves always seem to get timely releases, don't have those limitations, and even get to play earlier sometimes. It doesn't change much except for adding more hoops for the legitimate user as time goes on.

GoG DRM-free releases exist. There should be something possible like this for legitimate users on all platforms and storefronts.

Especially with physical media you should always be able to put it in and play it completely offline. There isn't even a fake disc problem with devices that have the above mentioned restrictions.

Maybe if companies weren't this scummy there would be less thieves?

Devs get hired, get fired once the project is done and never seen their names in any credit.

I have never once had a problem playing a PS4 or PS5 game while being offline unless it was an online only game, which those do exist. Now forced patches are another issue, sometimes you have to connect online to update the game.

While what you say is true there still should never ever be theft.
