Yes, actually. I know many people hated the flashlight thing, but I loved it. Throw it on the hardest difficulty with some texture/lighting mods, and you're in for a good time.

Yeah I enjoyed them. I didn’t really care for the flashlight mechanic but it didn’t ruin the game for me.

Just ok. I don't think the game feel/physics are that great. Prefer Doom/2 or the reboot.

The tech was great for the time. The actual game was mediocre at best.

I thought the first half of Doom 3 was good, not great. But I very much enjoyed the game as it progressed.

The expansion I thought was great although their gravity gun gimmick was kinda lame.

It was decent. It went on for waaaaay too long for what it offered.

Some good parts separated by long boring ass hallways. And monster closets.

Doom 2016 is infinitely better.

Yes, I enjoyed it much more than the 2016 repetitive wave shooter.

After the 20th jump scare in the first mission....no, I started to dislike the game.

Doom 3 was actually my first Doom game when I played it on Xbox many years ago and now, I own Doom 3 BFG Edition on PC. I do replay Doom 3 from time to time, I personally like it. It adds horror to it and I like the fact it's slow pacing adds fear when you are in a dark room.

But truth be told, Doom 2016 is were it's at.

That game was mediocre. All of the scares were generic and mostly annoying. "Oh look! The lights are out. I wonder what is going to happen? Oh! Monster. Surprise!" Sad game indeed.

It had good atmosphere, but the jump scares became repetitive and annoying. I like the Dead Space games better.

I urge everyone to try Doom 3 with the Absolute HD mod. I hated Vanilla Doom 3, but with the Absolute HD mod, it's Half Life tier

Funny you would mention Half-Life, because I always thought that Doom 3 with its slow, methodical pace, narrative focus, and multiple environmental based puzzles played more like an homage to Half-Life than a sequel to the Doom games.

The opening straight up is Halflife.

Yeah, me neither. People who did hate on it mostly said it wasn't fast run and gunning, like the old DOOM 1 & 2. No it wasn't really, but the game was still great. I guess these people never got used to the change and hated it for not being as close to the originals as they wanted. I believe most of these people never even played it though.

The whole "pick up item and enemy appears" got old. I don't know if I ever finished it. Then again, I was always more into Quake.

Yup. Played it online co-op with a friend back on the old Xbox. We had a couple of fun nights playing both campaigns. Multiplayer wasn’t terrific, but the campaign was smooth as butter with a lot of variety and corridors that felt like mazes. Did get lost a lot though - that I remember.

@Litchie: Doom 2016 and soon to be Eternal are not also A carbon copy of originals but they are universally loved games.

^This.

It was all right. I did come to it a couple of years late... so maybe my expectations were just a bit high.

Yeah, a lot.

The horror atmosphere that was pulled off greatly and the satisfying gunplay (in part because there is reloading) make DOOM 3 a blast to play.

That's to bad, the opening levels are slow and kinda bland but it does get pretty good towards the end as it shifts to hell.

@vfighter: With the Absolute HD mod, Doom 3 IS as good as Half Life 2 imo, and I consider Half Life 2 to be the greatest FPS ever made.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought Doom3 was vastly superior to the modern re-boots.

Great game and the expansion was pretty good too.

Doom 2016 was good for the first 3 hours until you realize every arena is identical and the repetitiveness kicks in. It's mediocre compared to other arena shooters like Painkiller. Doom 3s level design is on par with Half Life

LOL. painkiller is perfect example of how not to do old school shooters. i mean its psedu old school and there is no level design and enemies are only running at you. same can be said about serious sam.

Doom 2016 is a masterpiece. its combat is just best since FEAR 2. Doom Eternal is going to be best game this year by far.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. Think I've beaten it twice, pretty good game and the expansions are good.
