Man, I bought enough plastic garbage to fill half the faces and chests in Hollywood last gen. Guitars, cameras, battery packs, Move, steering wheels, all collecting dust in a closet, all sitting unused and unloved.

This gen, nothing besides a case, some grips and stick caps for my Switch, and a gaming headset.

However, I do plan on picking up one of these in the near future:

What about you, gang?

Have you picked up much in the way of peripherals this generation?

Why can't I properly format a topic?

I pretty much never do peripherals. I got the Switch Pro controller via a Chrimbo present, as well as the Elite controller (different years.) I think the most recent that I bought was the USB dongle for PC/Xbox controller... That was a couple years ago.

Are we counting Switch as part of this gen as essentially the Nintendo bailout of the gen or is it technically the first competitor of next gen?

I've bought a headset, controllers and a charger for them for PS4. Then controllers and a set of steering wheel attachments for Switch. That's it.

@Telekill: Good point, and probably deserve's to be its own thread. It's difficult for me to think of a next gen device being weaker than the previous gen devices, but I don't know how else to catagorize it.

For the sake of the thread though, let's lump them in together.

No, not really. I’ve purchased one extra controller and a play and charge battery pack for the Xbox One. I do plan on getting a Pro controller and a charging station for the Switch someday.

Yeah a few things... mainly for my Switch. Items like the Pro controller, the Satisfye grip, screen protector, case etc.

The other main thing was a pair of Plantronics headphones (RIG 600LX).

The Sony Platinum and ATH M50X headphone. Both does the same damn thing, I must be drunk when I decided to buy the M50X and later the Platinum when I already have a working gaming headsets. Probably bought the Platinum because I noticed no mic on damn $160 purchase.

Sounds really good though not gonna lie. Uncharted 4 with Platinum headphone is excellent.

Customised 3 fight-sticks/upgrades, also bought retro pads of varying quality from Ebay - mostly poor, sitting in a corner, never to be touched again

Does PSVR count? Otherwise I bought a mic with headphones for about 20 bucks and a gold colored controller.

As far as the switch goes I believe Nintendo used the Wii U as the beta test of the switch, so I count the switch as current gen.

Back onto the thread topic though. No...I've bought a third party wireless controller for the Wii U, an external hard drive for the PS4, a 128GB Micro SD Card for the switch (All I could afford at the moment), and a new carrying bag for the Switch Lite. I do plan on buying a larger 512 GB micro Sd card for the switch later on, as well as a screen protector and a game cart holder.

I've been keen on trying whatever 8BitDo comes up with.

I recently picked up their M30 6-button controller for Mega Drive games and it's fantastic.

I also just ordered the SN30 Pro+ which should be a good replacement for modern controllers.

I don't think any of the 3 main mfgs make very good peripherals. I'd like to try the Xbox Elite controller for the build quality but it's pricey and I don't like the stick layout. The PS4 controller is probably my favorite layout but the battery life sucks.

I'm always looking for better controllers.

Also everything just needs to be USB C. Micro B sucks and so does everything that uses it.

I bought the Hori kickstand and the pro controller for the Switch.

I also buy a new Hori Fighting Commander fightpad every year. I bought a lot more useless plastic crap with the Wii, but most of that stuff came with the games.
