i think people didnt know what the xbox was so they wanted to try something new, but after the experience, no one wanted the 360, which is why its in last place pretty much

Yeah sure. That's what this has all been about, hasn't it? 360's biggest mistake was becoming profitable so early on. By being successful through the majority of its lifespan it has made itself vulnerable to an endless amount of fanboy rage and criticism.

It didn't fail. The Xbox 360 sold tens of millions of units and is actually making Microsoft a bit a money at this point. I'd say their biggest mistake was hardware quality early in the system's life. Some gamers had better luck than others, but I'm one of those that went through 5 and quit the 360 altogether. Other, smaller mistakes include casualization through Kinect and not supporting HD-DVD, though I wouldn't say those reasons made the system slip into 3rd place.

The Xbox brand went from a 20 million selling console to a 70+ million selling console with the highest attachment rate, in anybodies book apart from the hillbilly cows thats a massive success.
